My boyfriend discovered this restaurant after reading good reviews, so we decided to check it out. As soon as we arrived, The host/server named Cath informed me that there would be a wait. I asked how many people were on the waiting list, and she replied, “Only one.” So we agreed to wait.
30 minutes later, it felt as though she had forgotten about us. I’m not sure how, considering we were the only ones sitting in the waiting area so I approached the host stand, and another server asked how many people wanted to dine in. When I explained that we had been waiting too long and he immediately sat us down.
Cath then reappeared, looking uncomfortable, almost as if she disliked us for speaking up. From the moment we sat down, Cath’s attitude toward us was less than welcoming. When taking our order, she asked my partner if he had any allergies but never asked me if I had any. Her brief interaction with us felt cold and unpleasant. We expected at least a small apology for forgetting we were waiting, but none came. At that point, we considered leaving because the experience didn’t feel right, but we decided to give the place a chance.
When the food arrived, everything looked amazing. JR, who served our dishes, noticed that our table was wobbly and quickly replaced it with a sturdier one. That thoughtful gesture completely shifted our impression of the restaurant. The atmosphere felt lighter, our mood improved, and the food truly delivered.
We ordered the pork sinigang sa pula, which was very good, with the right sour kick and a hint of tomato. The garlic baby squid was the star of the show! My boyfriend and I agreed it was one of the best we’ve ever had. The sizzling roast beef belly was also excellent. The kamias sisig, though different from the usual version of sisig that we love, turned out surprisingly delicious as well.
Overall, the food was outstanding. While one server nearly ruined the experience with her poor attitude, the rest of the staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming. In the end, the service recovery and the amazing food made the...
Read moreManagement (10/10): Our on-site manager was Jeff. Jeff's insights and advices were valuable even in the earliest stage of our planning. He was hands-on and intentional on not just making the event happen but making it a success.
Staff (10/10): All the staff we approached were very helpful and polite. When we needed for someone or something on-site, we were assisted promptly and professionally. All of them looked sharp and also acted like it. Professional, Polite, and Prompt!
Place (10/10): The entire place was just as we were made to expect it to be. We had our wedding held at the balcony, and it was a total success. It was as functional as we needed it to be, and the sunset view was breathtaking!
Food (10/10): Their food tastes homey. Nothing bad to say at all! Even their iced tea doesn't taste cheap.
Our wedding budget was definitely lower than what most modern weddings would cost, but the staff and management at Lola's definitely made it happen with the utmost care and professionalism.
Though we did not spend much on our wedding, our experience at Lola's definitely was priceless, and will remain a beautiful, golden memory for ages to come.

Read moreWe had our Christmas party in Lola Cafe in S Maison. We availed of their special set for our lunch and it was anything but special, far from it. They claim that the food was enough for the number of pax in our group and saying it's because we're over the number of said pax but those they counted as over are children. And to think it is managed buffet and several adults haven't eaten so they had to make more than what was allotted to us. They claim many went for round 2, I said I doubt that they went for round 2 and was willing to take a survey of the 40 people in our group. Many other things which are below par for an accomplished restaurant but let me say that even one of their waiters said that they too were surprised because usually when they have big groups there's usually a lot of food left over.
I've eaten in Lola Cafe before, I enjoyed the food. I was the one who even recommended to our group to have our Christmas party here. But never again.
So if you plan to celebrate or hold big gatherings in Lola Cafe, particularly in S Maison, think again. May I suggest their other branches hopefully with...
