I like the food at Giovanni's. It's highly recommended by my boss and he's Italian. Although, i'm just rating it 2 star. I had a late lunch with my dad sometime mid 2022, and I wasn't too happy with their ambient music. They were playing Filipino rap from some local radio station and it just ruined the whole mood. I didn't notice it at first since it played some foreign song when we were ordering. But lo and behold, it switched into some local rap with swear words. I tried to comment about the music that could be heard enough by the staff but they didn't seem to care at all. I didn't come to a restaurant that had this vibe. The food was reasonably priced or higher than your usual resto found in Cubao but I wish the staff were more conscious on customer impression of the place and brand image. I decided not to return unless invited by someone else. As a customer, I expect a delightful experience from the restaurant to feel that it was worth my time and money. If you're not bothered by the music and after the food, you might want to try it out. Just lower your expectations when it comes to service. Also, I went there one afternoon for their pizza promo, they claimed that they don't have pizzas anymore. Honestly, this place is a...
Read moreCentral European speaking. Went there with my girlfriend to fulfill our cravings for authentic pizza and I've got to admit that we got just that! We ordered a Margherita (about 30 cm) for 250 pesos along with iced tea (some way to sweet syrup) and a cappuccino. This pizza really was authentic as stated by others. Amazing dough(!), great tomato sauce and actual mozzarella cheese. Also the staff was absolutely attentive and friendly. Would (and probably will) definitely come back for the pizza and try something else as well! Value for money very good. Recommended.
Sadly there are some points that need improvement: iced tea not actual tea and way too sweet. Cappuccino didn't do justice to an Italian restaurant. The place lacks atmosphere (tiles missing right next to entrance, A/C louder than the seemingly far away music, very basic table setup...). The overall vibe wasn't the best - maybe the boss just had a bad day; looked grumpy. The menu cards could get some optical improvement. I think if a few things would be improved, this place could be overrun by people for the good food...
Read moreVery nice. The owner is Italian so you can trust that the dishes are more or less authentic, and that they're prepared the way they're supposed to be. Also, they use real cheese, not that disgusting processed stuff.
BTW, said owner is really nice too.
Food: The pizzas look plain but are full of flavor; small but very filling. The lasagna is nice and creamy. Desserts are tiny but heavenly. The salads are fresh, crisp, and satisfying.
Price: A little more than what you'd normally pay at popular fast-food pizza places, but the quality of the food here is waaaaay better and more healthful. So really, just skip the fast-food pizza and head here. You won't regret it.
The staff: Polite, well-groomed and agreeable.
The place itself: Clean and reasonably comfy. Not cozy, but comfy. Poor acoustics though (you can listen in on conversations in the mezzanine) so it's not the place for you if you're looking for...
