‼️ Very disappointing experience!
We had our dinner here on a weekday at around 7:40pm. Ordered Shio Butter Ramen, Tonkatsu and Tori Katsu Teishoku then upgraded to Gran set (refillable rice, sides and soup). At around 8:10pm, we requested for a refill of the sides. Unfortunately, NO sides were available as per the server and the kitchen staff because they were about to close. (The mall closes at 9pm)
We even asked before upgrading what is refillable. The server told us that only the tonkatsu meat and tori katsu were not refillable but everything is refillable. If only the menu specifically stated "one-time refill", we will understand it. But charging P95 for a "REFILLABLE" rice, sides and soup yet getting only a one-time refill of sides? Isn't it a scam?!
We asked for the manager but the server said that the manager already went home. Barely 50mins. before closing time and yet the manager is not around?!
Much to our dismay, there is a service charge. Service charge for what? We asked for iced water but only gave us cold water. Even the tonkatsu sauce is upon request. No refills were given.
The atmosphere inside the resto is warmer than the mall corridors. Eating ramen while sweating is very uncomfortable.
No wonder the people in the resto beside them are lining up and waiting for their turn to be seated yet this resto has only 2 tables of dining customers because of the bad service...
Read moreTried this Japanese place on the 2nd floor of Vertis North. Their menu was a collection of ramen, udon, soba, and various fried delicacies like tempura that you can get as part of a set meal. The menu choices seemed curated - a few of each type of food - so picking something to order wasn't a huge challenge.
The (only) Zaru Soba (cold) that I tried was a bit of a letdown if I'm being honest. The noodles were clumped together and the dipping sauce could have been more flavorful. I recall having better Zaru Soba on Delta Airline flights to Japan to be honest.
The tempura was fine. Nothing to write home about. Again the tempura dipping sauce lacked that oooomph of flavor that you'd expect.
The staff was pleasant, helpful and quick on their feet - so that's a redeeming factor for them. However, the restaurant was warm and stuffy - the corridor outside was way cooler - so eating wasn't really a joyful experience.
I might try this again, but given the other "reliables" in Vertis North, I...
Read moreOyakudon - My friend and I were looking for the traditional Chicken Teriyaki but your resto did not offer this dish. Your waitress was kind enough to suggest Oyakudon. To our surprise, it was superb. Something we had never tried before and we wish all Japanese restos would carry this dish.
Paitan Ramen - We can tell that your Ramen was freshly made at your store, and not bought frozen. The chicken and the soup were wonderful. We would definitely this again when we go back.
Wafu Salad - I have tasted all possible combination of Japanese salads and always start my meal with it. This was the best salad I have had and I think adding Edamame to it was brilliant. It gave it a distinct flavor that I found palatable.
The staff were friendly and were all smiles. I would recommend, however for the lights to be dimmer to give the place a touch...
