Read moreMy worst nightmare. Requested for peking duck when reserving on their site - they use a third party to do this called "Tablecheck". But I decided we dont want the duck and used the "amend" button and deleted the request. Surprise - turns out the button has a bug so it didn't erase. I told them i canceled it but they said we didn't and insisted we just eat it anyways. "We don't want it and we canceled it" , "you have to sir" is how it went..
All staff including the manager and about 10 waiters stared at me and my dad as if we burned down their home and the entire country. I had to prove it to them by doing a sample demo reservation and showed them the amend button has flaws - the developer missed an edge case (Im a software engineer in the US btw). Sure the manager did say sorry and said will deliver it to their IT team but that was about it. It was hard to swallow food having been stared at by 10 employees already.
Food? Yangchou fried rice - mediocre. Only tasted green peas. Cabbage with garlic - mediocre. Soy sauce mixed with cabbage basically.
Wasted our precious dinner on this subpar restaurant. No wonder the rating is so low. Ratings do not lie.
Lets pretend the "button" issue didnt happen. Even then, the food was just not worth it. Just do yourelf a favor and don't go and save your precious money and time somewhere else if you are traveling like us only for 2 days.
It was a nice experience having been stared at 10 employees for something that wasn't even our fault. Atmosphere is dark. not much people. No view. I'd say the only good thing is that the waiters act kind nevertheless. And the manager knows how to say sorry, once.
No exaggerations here. Just help yourself and go elsewhere.
Edit:literally had a nightmare because of the incident the whole night so couldn't sleep. Thanks.
EDIT: 3 months later of writing this post. Checked the booking system and still has the sam error. Only loud words from the manager, no fix. What a shame.
Edit: 3 years later,...
Read moreI booked no 8 china house for our family CNY dinner. We wanted to have a very special one as it’s the first time my partner is meeting my family for the first time. As part of the reservation, I already made some deposits and on the day off I made an add on deposits which I didn’t get acknowledgment on.
My family arrived earlier and to our shock instead of the restaurant we were expecting they placed us in the overflow banquet that we were not informed when we made the reservation. Disappointment number 1! And before I entered I told the girl leading us to the table about my un acknowledge deposit and that we have someone with PWD discount.
During dinner, most food were not served in order and quality and taste were just so so for the hefty price tag. Disappointment again. When we got the bill I reminded the waiter and showed him the email I sent with my 2 deposits along with the pwd id. He came back with a hand written breakdown deducting both deposits and pwd discount and we gave the card. We didn’t check the card transactions already in the restaurant and we even gave the reciept to my sis in law who needed an OR. Upon arriving home we saw notification saying they charged us double and more than what was in the breakdown. They didn’t deduct the deposit that I have made.
I emailed and text them and they said they couldn’t charge it back to my credit card but will deposit. All I was asking for is the breakdown coz that’s what my partner needs. They were fast to reply at first but today second day of processing no reply to text, calls and email. This hasn’t been resolved yet and it’s just so very disappointing coming from a 5 star hotel restaurant!!!...
