Antakya Shisha Lounge Bar — Restaurant in Gdansk

Incredibly disappointed & disheartened with the way me and my boyfriend were treated this evening. Our stay in Poland so far has been amazing, with exception service and fair pricing at every venue we have visited in Gdańsk. This evening was an exception, and the dishonesty, unfairness and ill-treatment of us was despicable. Please let me explain… We had gone here to try the shisha, we had walked past a few times and despite it always looking empty, we wanted to give it a go as my boyfriend had never tried Shisha before. On arrival we were greeted and sat down by a very good waitress who continued to serve us throughout the night (she was great, the bar and everyone else, was not). For context, when we were provided the Shisha at no point were we advised or told not to pick it up or touch it. Towards the end of the evening, we wanted to go and sit outside. Another bartender nodded and said we could take the Shisha outside - there was no offer to carry this for us and we were not told we could not carry it. At the end of the evening, my boyfriend went in to pay, the Shisha had burnt out and as we were the only customers outside and had not been served since moving outside I went to take the Shisha back in to be helpful. It is common practice to return glasses etc at the end of the night, and I was following this etiquette. Unfortunately, the bowl at the bottom of the Shisha fell as it was not very secure, and this smashed on the floor. I offered to help clean it up and apologised profusely for this. Another bartender then told me that he had to call the owner, and that we may have to pay. We waited and again I apologised and explained that I was trying to help. I also explained that we had already been told that we could take it ourselves, and had NEVER been told we could not pick it up or touch it. The owner then arrived, and demanded I pay 700 zloty at which point I became quite anxious as this seemed incredibly unfair and unreasonable. I explained the situation and that we had been told we could carry it, it was not my fault the shisha bowl was not secured properly. The owner then changed his mind and demanded 1200 zloty and said he would call the police if we did not pay. Time surpassed and I was visibly upset and agitated, and as a neurodivergent individual I was shaking and felt overwhelmed by the whole situation - no consideration was given to the impact this was having on me. Then, for a 3rd time, the owner changed his mind and then asked for 500 zloty at which point it felt even more like a scam. However, due to my anxiety and vulnerable state, I was desperate to get out of the situation and paid the 500 zloty. This feels like a complete scam, and sincerely hope that no person has to experience this. The owner lacked integrity, honesty, compassion and had a complete disregard for any sort of service. Again it is vital to note that a) we had been told we could carry it outside, and b) we had never been told we could not carry or touch it. The pressure tactics were clear. I would strongly advise against going to this venue. On top of this, there was a very poor atmosphere, the venue was empty for the large part of the evening, and the drinks were adequate at best. Avoid. I am gutted that I have been victim to a scam but also am proud of myself for managing to get through this in my state of anxiety and panic, and whilst being overwhelmed by the pressure I was put under. Today I went out with my partner for a drink and a shisha, we stayed inside for the first half of the night and as we decided to move to the garden area at the front of the bar we asked the bartender if it was okay to carry the shisha outside he nodded and said it’s fine. We carried on our night as usual having a drink and a smoke out in the garden. As the night ended I decided to go pay and use the toilet , when I was in the toilet my partner decided to bring the shisha back to the bar as it’s ended and he wanted to help them out and he polite, as he was walking inside the shisha dropped and smashed, the owner who was very rude insisted that we have to pay 700zloty for the broken shisha which we haven’t been informed or told about at any time through the night, as refused because we didn’t feel it was a right thing to do as we haven’t been told it would be an issue to take it outside or pick up. The bar owner then decided to increase the price to 1200 zloty which seemed like a scam and an unfair demand. The bar owner called the police and he told them all he wanted was 500 zloty which is the 3rd price he made up to scam us out of money. My overall experience with this place was horrible and I believe I was treated very unfairly and scammed out of my money , I do not recommend this place to anyone as they lack integrity which may also explain why we were the only customer’s in the bar most of the night. Niezależnie od tego, czy szukasz wytchnienia po ciężkim dniu pracy, czy po prostu chcesz spędzić miłe popołudnie ,miły wieczór ze znajomymi, atmosfera jest zawsze sprzyjająca. Dopełnieniem relaksu jest shisha, która niezmiennie jest rewelacyjna. Perfekcyjnie przygotowana, z szerokim wyborem smaków, pozwala na pełne odprężenie w komfortowym otoczeniu. Całe doświadczenie jest jeszcze lepsze dzięki bardzo profesjonalnej obsłudze. Personel jest zawsze uprzejmy, pomocny i doskonale zna menu, potrafiąc doradzić zarówno w kwestii dań, jak i wyboru shishy. To właśnie ten element sprawia, że czujesz się tu wyjątkowo i chętnie wracasz.
