Dolce Vita Ristorante — Restaurant in Gdansk

4 portions were average but the fifth (adult portion) was tiny. About 4 mouthfuls at best. A lot smaller than a child’s portion. We complained, the waitress was very rude and the chef was confrontational. We paid, but they had already locked the door and wouldn’t let us leave. We had our 7 year old daughter with us who was very upset. Another member of male staff or possibly the owner appeared, repeatedly shouting (a word I can’t publish) and they still wouldn’t unlock the door. We were sworn and shouted at - at this point someone unbolted the door, allowing myself, my daughter and father in law to leave. But before my mother in law or husband were able to step outside they slammed it shut and bolted them in again. It continued with my husband and mother in law locked inside, being screamed at by management who had their arms stretched out, blocking the way to the door (baring in mind we had paid in full because we just wanted to leave) - My mother in law was incredibly shaken up and our daughter is deaf so was very confused, scared and upset. Eventually a waitress unbolted the door allowing my husband and mother in law to leave. The worst restaurant we’ve ever been to, and we travel all over the world. We’ve never ever been treated this way, it was absolutely shocking - plus the fact they were happy to behave this way in front of other diners is astonishing. Avoid...

Had a meal (Friday evening) here and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience!

We waited about 15-20 minutes just for our drinks to arrive, 40 minutes for our starters to arrive, and the main courses took another 40 minutes after that (1 hour 20 in total). Whilst the food was delicious, one portion was definitely on the small side and wasn’t presented well at all, it looked like it had just been thrown on the plate without any care.

Annoyingly when we asked our server how long our food would be, they kept telling us it would be ready in 10 minutes which was clearly not true. They didn’t come up to us and let us know either, it was always us asking them; leading us to feel ignored and not appreciated. We weren’t offered any other drinks as well (most likely would have had to wait too long for them to arrive anyway).

I appreciate this was a busy Friday evening, however the wait time for the food was unacceptable, and the overall service was poor on top.

We came with a small child and had informed in advance that we would have a baby with us. Yet, the moment the waiters saw the stroller, they started to show anger and told us it was not allowed. Excuse me, but how on earth are we supposed to leave a one-year-old baby outside while sitting upstairs without even seeing him? That is outrageous.

Secondly, the moment the waiters realized we were of a different nationality, not Polish like them, the service instantly turned dismissive, careless, and downright disrespectful. When we politely asked for dishes, it felt as if they were doing us a favor by bringing them, with such expressions on their faces as if they wished we weren’t even there. I call that racism.
