Jacobsen S.A — Restaurant in Gdansk

I don’t normally give 1 star, but I don’t think they actually deserve any. 1 star goes just for the interior, or maybe the exterior cause it looks quite nice outside. We stopped there cause we saw many people sitting around, unfortunately we didn’t notice that most of them didn’t finish their food. We got here around 8pm and most of the items from the menu were already sold out. The food that we ordered was not tasty at all, and I can say that we were very hungry and still we couldn’t eat the food we got. The service was very poor, the lady forgot about a dish that we ordered for the table but considering the taste of the rest of the food we were quite glad she did. In the end we found out that their card machine is not working so we need to pay by cash - not helpful at all, considering the signs everywhere saying hat you can pay by card. TOTALLY...

The place is really cold with a very bad service, the food has terrible quality, we ordered meat and it was completely dry, and we also ordered three soups, two of them could not be eaten as they tasted awful and the meat they had inside we sill don't what was it, and the other soup came with a surprise A PIECE OF GLASS INSIDE!!! They didn't offered anything in exchange and we are still waiting for an apology.... Definetely the worst place I've ever been to. There were also other bad things such as the toilet which was dirty and the bread was not form the day as it was hard like a stone. They also kicked us out of the place as fast as they could and there was people in the kitchen who were not wearing kitchen clothes, the waiters were sitting in the custommer tables and talking there...

I can't understand the bad reviews. It is a decent, fair priced restaurant with a good choice of regional dishes that come in large portions, no Michelin star restaurant, but a solid choice. The decor inside the restaurant is strange, yes. We weren't fans of the kitsch figurines, but they also didn't bother us. It gave us loads of food for discussion. The service was very friendly and attentive, nothing to complain about. And our food was really good. We had the potato dumplings and the potato cakes, both with goulash, and a pork cotelett with fries. All dishes came with delicious kraut salads.
