My boyfriend and I decided to eat Italian for our first dinner in Gdansk today and we were so glad we chose this cosy restaurant to have it! We started with beers and bruschetta to share. The bruschetta tasted so fresh with buffalo mozzarella and sweet ripe tomatoes and basil. No complaints there - the waiter who served us was very professional; offered us two small plates too.
Followed by our main courses, which were carbonara (mine) and his, grilled tuna steak with salad. My carbonara tasted soooo good, creamy and the pasta was handmade as well. The pancetta was so tasty! I had a couple of bites off the tuna and it was medium rare - perfect! I didn’t taste the salad but according to my bf, it was very good in spite of its simple appearance.
The house red wine went really well with carbonara. My bf stole sips of it since he didn’t feel like drinking too much today.
Service was excellent. Didn’t ask for the name of our waiter, but when it started to rain, they offered to seat us inside, and he took care of our table sufficiently. We really appreciated the fact that he wasn’t being intrusive, but made sure our drinks and food were accurately served in spite of it being quite a busy Sunday.
Total bill ended up at 270 PLN for food + 2 beers + 1 glass of red. Please note that service charge isn’t included in the price, so please bear that in mind. We gladly tipped our waiter for the wonderful dinner experience we had. :D
Plenty of vegetarian options for those who are. Gluten free pasta can also be chosen as a substitute for those with gluten allergies.
Strongly recommended to dine here. We...
Read moreProbably worst experience I’ve had.
Initially was fine, service seemed ok. I ordered the tenderloin and asked to replace the baked potatoes with fries, she said it’s not possible so I added it extra.
When I got the food I had just fries, no one informed me but of course I assumed she asked the chef and he said it’s ok.
My steak on the other hand was almost not edible, massive burn-marks on the outside and raw inside. All I could taste is char, I’m not picky when it comes to meat but that was just simply not any good. My wife’s pasta was also undercooked.
I saw the chef stroll around on his phone and I asked him about the steak, he instantly got defensive and said it’s the Italian way, I couldn’t even get a word in and he said “it’s ok my friend” turn around and left. Worst way to handle that on his part, I was left even more disappointed.
We then try to pay, no one ever came to our table to ask if we were done so we had to call them over ourself, not a big deal. I wanted to clarify to the waitress if my earlier request to change the baked potatoes to fries did not mean I had to pay extra for fries since I didn’t get baked potatoes. Waitress didn’t understand what I meant so she had to called over her coworker. He instantly clarified that I did not need to pay extra, quick and easy. He said the waitress will come back with our bill.
She never came, she started serving other tables while we are waiting for the bill. Took another 10 minutes. I ask the same guy again, he fixed it in 2 minutes. So at-least one decent waiter. But the rest...
Read moreWas in there yesterday for a nice lunch, read many good reviews but unfortunately I was surprised.. in a bad way. The promoter was such a ray of sunshine so polite loved the welcome. Unfortunately inside we got not so polite and rude waitress which was ignoring us and being very unprofessional. There was few people in restaurant (older) we are young adults and we felt very judged. We got our food which was over salted it felt like eating a whole salt mine! I tried to get attention of the waitress but it wasn’t possible. She was coming up to other tables asking how our food is but maybe because we are young we don’t deserve top service. I politely said “I couldn’t get your attention before but this dish was unfortunately so salty it feels like there is spoons of salt there.” She then proceeded to rudely argue with me for few minutes and say that it’s the cheese that makes the dish salty.. I grew up with 2 skilled chefs as parents who own a restaurant and I know exactly how salty it should or it shouldn’t be, if you ever had carbonara or eaten it in proper restaurant you will know cheese or even bacon in it is nowhere to salty and if they use so salty ingredients they should change something? Or not add any extra salt. We didn’t get an offer to swap the dish or get any discount and paid full price. We didn’t get any “Im sorry” just a big hiss 🐍 from waitress. Absolutely disgusting behaviour :) Will not be coming back owner should rethink hiring of unprofessional...
