Disappointed! Considering its price point.
Came here a few days ago based on past reviews with it being a ‘seafood’ place. Sadly it wasn’t the case while I’m no seafood connoisseur I was shocked by the standard in relation to the rating and the price point. So let’s begin the journey of my disappointment…
Started with an oyster and Vodka and in all honestly, the oyster fantastic and vodka was a concoction of spice and alcohol - would be better off just having the oysters.
Moving onto our starters whereby we had snails, prawns, baby octopus and salmon tartare. Out of theses the snails were probably the best. The prawns were shocking, felt as though the fisherman went on their summer holidays and the staff had to go fishing for it themselves. Would not recommend for its price point.
Salmon tartare was average Baby octopus the sauce was probably the best thing about it.
Mains: we had pasta in black ink sauce, stuffed tortellini and steak. To my surprise the best thing was the steak! The stuffed tortellini was dry and barely tasteful. Pasta was average and I would recommend the steak overall.
Dessert was very forgettable and I am unable to recall it on writing this.
They have a nice selection of wine - no complaints.
Staff: helpful and friendly, however service was disjointed and we waited 30 mins for our dessert. Staff seemed to have little understanding about the dishes and unable to explain more about each dish when asked.
Overall, considering it was a fine dining restaurant I expected a lot more when you consider its price point, service and quality of food. You could easily get nicer food coupled with a smaller hole in your pocket with other restaurants...
Read moreI recently returned home from what was supposed to be a romantic Valentine's Day dinner with my girlfriend at a restaurant we had heard good things about. However, our experience left much to be desired.
Despite having made a reservation well in advance, our evening took a frustrating turn when our main dishes were inexplicably delayed by an hour. Even more disheartening was the fact that our waiter acknowledged this delay and found himself apologizing multiple times while we were paying. Such a significant wait time for our main course was not only inconvenient but also took away from the overall enjoyment of our special evening.
Adding to our disappointment was the steep price we paid for the dishes served. The quality of the food did not seem to justify the high cost, leaving us questioning the value of the entire dining experience.
To compound matters, we were seated at a table by the window, which turned out to be uncomfortably cold. The chilly atmosphere significantly impacted our ability to relax and savor the moment, as we found ourselves distracted by the discomfort.
Regrettably, this visit marked my first experience at this restaurant, and I must admit that I'm hesitant to consider returning. The combination of the late main course, high prices relative to the food quality, and an uncomfortably cold dining area overshadowed what was supposed to be a special Valentine's Day celebration. Considering these factors, it's difficult to find a compelling reason to give this establishment...
Read moreFarina is a beautiful place. The menu is rich and nice. I had beef in Cognac sauce and others duck in apple glazing. My course was really good but others said not to be amazed about the duck.
A bit disappointed with the service. They kindly shared some toast for appetizers as we ordered mains, so we could wait. Shortly after, as we had not finished the appetizer, the courses came and were given to us. We wished they would let us finish the appetizers first. The waiter asked to remove them, which we refused and stated we would like to finish. We did so , but then the dishes were waiting in front of us in the meantime. Not great for such kind place. Either wait we finish starters either ask us when the course can be brought.
Also not so great experience with the sommelier. We were hesitating between two Burgundy wines a Côtes de baunes and Nuit Saint George. When asking advice from the sommelier which would be better with our dish I was mostly told Nuit Saint Georges is more elegant, which didn't help at all as we knew that. Is that all a person who's entire job is about wines can do for us? We were waiting to hear why either of the wine would better compliment our meat, or even being suggested something an alternative from the Wine menu.
In short, food is qualitative, the place looks good but the service is not what you would expect of such an establishment. This should be effortless and perfectly timed. If you are looking for excellent service there are better...
