We visited here in 2020 just before lockdown and the food was incredible me and my Mum said it was some of the beer food we’d ever eaten. Naturally we booked it again for 2025 for 7 of us, as the reviews were still really good. We were so disappointed. We booked our table for 8PM, they put up banners as we were celebrating my brothers 21st but that is literally the only good thing I can say. The service was terrible, two servers for a whole restaurant does not work. We ordered our drinks starters and mains, 9:20PM comes around we’ve still had no food, nobody came over to update us we had to try and find somebody to ask!! The same thing happened with our mains and we didn’t get them until 10:30PM, no update again we chased and got told 2 minutes for over 40 minutes. There was one other big table, but do not take bookings if you cannot cater for them. The food was poor, nothing like we remembered it has gone massively downhill and was our most expensive meal. The fillet steak came with dry potatoes and a cold tomato. They didn’t charge us for the wine but it’s besides the point, I really wouldn’t waste your time there’s so many better...
Read moreOn the day we arrived to Krakow we decided to take a walk in the Old Town. Padre was the first restaurant we spotted and the menu looked good. So good indeed that I convinced the Missus to go back after our walk. It was a good decision. The place is in a basement. Nice moderate interior design. The place is more on the elegant side compared to the tourist traps on Rynek Glowny. The food was really good. We had zurek (sour Polish soup) and cold beet soup, my personal favourite. The missus had halibut filet and I chose the pork chop. These dishes are Polish classics and the were prepared in a refined, professional way. Everything was in the right temperature, texture etc. The staff speaks good English. The waitress gave expert advice on vodka. Drinking vodka shots in a classy restaurant might seem a bit off but hey, this is Poland! They also had good lager beer from the AGH University brewery. Pricewise, well it's not a kebab shop but it was well worth every penny we spent. I would gladly go again and recommend the place for couples or smaller (3-4 people) groups. Good food, good service,...
Read moreStumbled across this lovely restaurant whilst on our way to the main square to find somewhere for dinner. Knowing how crowded the main square would be, we decided to give it a try. We were enticed in by the quaint little courtyard dining area and the delicious sounding dishes on the menu. I'm so glad that we chose Padre. The courtyard dining area had a great ambience. Daniel, our waiter was excellent, he was attentive, friendly, efficient, and guided us through the menu, recommending dishes for us to try. The service was very good, our food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious. My wife had the duck dumplings to start followed by the salmon. I had the Polish sour rye soup 'zurek' followed by the traditional pork chop, and a glass of Polish wine. Overall we had a great dining experience and will most definitely eat there again when we return to Krakow. Although we dined outside, the restaurant interior dining area looked fantastic, virtually entirely decorated in white. A big thank you and well done to the team at Padre and in particular our waiter, Daniel.
