I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wierzynek Restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was immersed in the elegant and historic ambiance of the place. The interior, with its Gothic-inspired architecture and antique decor, created a sense of grandeur that instantly grabbed my attention.
The service at Wierzynek was impeccable. The waitstaff were attentive, knowledgeable, and made me feel like a valued guest throughout the evening. They were incredibly helpful in guiding me through the extensive menu, providing recommendations and even explaining the origins and preparation of each dish. Their professionalism and genuine passion for the culinary arts truly added to the overall dining experience.
Speaking of the food, it was nothing short of exceptional. Wierzynek specializes in traditional Polish cuisine, and each dish I tried was a delicious representation of the country's culinary heritage. The flavors were rich, authentic, and made with the finest-quality ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the pierogi, which were perfectly cooked and filled with savory fillings that left me craving for more.
The presentation of the dishes was also worth mentioning. Each plate was meticulously arranged, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and artistic flair. The visual appeal of the food only enhanced the anticipation and pleasure of tasting each course.
Another highlight of dining at Wierzynek was the extensive wine list. The sommelier was knowledgeable and passionate about the wine offerings, providing excellent recommendations to perfectly complement my meal. The selection of wines ranged from local Polish varieties to international classics, ensuring there was something to suit every palate.
One aspect that truly set Wierzynek apart from other fine dining establishments was its sense of history. The restaurant has been operating since 1364, making it one of the oldest restaurants in Europe. The walls are adorned with historical artifacts and photographs, allowing diners to travel back in time and appreciate the cultural significance of this establishment. It was a truly unique and immersive experience to dine in such a storied location.
Overall, my experience at Wierzynek Restaurant was extraordinary. From the exceptional service to the exquisite cuisine and rich history, everything about this establishment exuded elegance and luxury. If you are looking to indulge in a culinary journey through Polish culture, I highly recommend dining at Wierzynek. It is an experience that you will cherish and remember...
Read moreRude, arrogant and opinionated personnel. Felt like a second class client.
We went to ask for a dinner reservation for 2 people and maybe a kid. We have been told that kid must not cry otherwise we will be moved (out of the restaurant or to another table not specified) they also complained about presence of an hypotetical stroller.
Fair enough, we had no issue with that, we could have booked another day just for two. Maybe saying kids are not allowed would have been more clear. But the main reason for that was that they have guests from the goverment which dont want to be disturbed.
Furthermore they said that a dinner at their restaurant for two was around 500 złotych... Implying that it was too much for us.
We apologize the waiters if we do not visit Kraków in suit and evening dress during the day. Again, informing politely about the presence of a dress code would have been more tactful and not a problem at all.
In any case I am sure that your 'honest' govermental guests will bring more money in your pockets than two turists from Scandinavia where a dinner for two in the most average restaurant can easily go above 500 złotych.
We are glad you suggested that in your restaurant there are first and second class guests so we could avoid spending even one groszek at your place.
We booked another restaurant, elegant or even more elegant than Wierzynek (for sure the plates were better presented from what I could see from the pictures). We went there dressed like simple tourists and got treaeted politely and with kindness. We spent almost 1000 złotych.
We had to sell our house and we both had to find a second job to pay for that... but it was worth it.
Your restaurant does not reflect at all the warm, welcoming hospitality of Polish culture. A bar mleczny does a better job.

Read moreVery Disappointing Experience Despite the Hype
We visited without a reservation, hoping to experience the historic restaurant we had read about.. especially since it’s been visited by royalty. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be quite disappointing. As vegetarians, we were dismayed to find there were almost no options available for us. Wanting to at least enjoy the ambiance, we decided to stay just for drinks and desserts. We preferred the upstairs seating area, which felt more like a proper restaurant setting, but the staff insisted it was fully reserved. When we checked upstairs ourselves, it was nearly empty. After some discussion, they allowed us to sit there since we were only staying briefly. The service, however, was unwelcoming. We started with drinks, but the waiter brought the wrong one. When we pointed this out, his response was rude and dismissive. It felt like we were being treated differently, perhaps because we weren’t ordering full meals - though we would have, had there been vegetarian options. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving after just our drinks, skipping the desserts entirely. This visit was a classic case of a place resting on its reputation rather than delivering quality service or hospitality. Not recommended for vegetarians or for anyone expecting a warm, welcoming...
