This is an EXCELLENT place to have a delicious & authentic Sardinian (Italian/ Mediterranean) meal, with a focus on fresh seafood. While it isn’t cheap, especially by Krakow/ Poland standards, this is a classic case of “you get what you pay for”.
In the Old Town, & run by a chef/ owner from Sardinia, you can tell they take great pride in preparing excellent meals for their guests. The setting is very nice…warm & cozy & calm, laid out well in a brick-lined underground cellar where the sound wasn’t overwhelming, despite being rather full, even on a Tuesday night in snowy December (2021). The service was very kind & welcoming, with excellent english spoken, & English on the menu as well (along with Italian).
They have numerous daily specials, so you can have variety even on repeat visits. I had the orata/ dorado (flaky, buttery white fish) grilled over roasted potatoes & mixed vegetables. VERY good flavor (though a few bones in the filets, so be careful). Large portions. Tiramisu for dessert was amazing.
If you’re craving something lighter, like fish, or otherwise want pasta/ Italian/ Sardinian/ Mediterranean food, this is a...
Read moreThe most contradictory dining experience of my life. When I entered the restaurant, I immediately noticed it was completely empty. There was no music, and the silence was deafening—without exaggeration. I asked the waitress if it was always that quiet, and she explained that summer is not their season, and they are more popular during the colder months. Still, the hint wasn’t taken, and no music was turned on afterward.
I debated whether I should stay or leave. Before coming, I had read the reviews and looked at the photos of the place, and it seemed promising, so I decided to give it a chance.
I ordered the seafood black pasta and received what looked like a strange mess. Everything was all over the place—and just not good. The seafood had a bad texture, the sauce wasn’t tasty, and most of the dish seemed to be shrimp heads and shells with barely any shrimp and just a small amount of pasta to eat. Maybe I’m just being picky, but it was very disappointing
For this pasta and a bottle of water I’ve payed 101 zloty+tip 15% cause the stuff was pleasant and it’s not their fault the...
Read moreI have developed a case of food poisoning from the octopus dish which was coated in a very strong sauce I believe to mask the fact that the octopus was old.
Not what I needed when I had a flight in the early AM.
Nice enough staff and the restaurant is in a nice setting. Fairly expensive in comparison to other restaraunts in the area.
EDIT restaurant replied with this "We are deeply sorry that you have been sick but we only use fresh and top quality products. We would not have been on the market for over 20 years if it had not been the case."
Unfortunately there is absolutely nothing else which can be blamed for my food poisoning and I think one of your chefs took a risk with and isn't controlling your stock effectively/keeping stock in the correct storage or temperature. Being an experienced professional chef myself and as octopus is something I eat regularly- i know wothout a doubt that this was the cause of the food poisoning. This I believe is why your octopus was covered in a particularly rich and seasoned sauce to mask the taste of an out of date and dangerous...
