Scandale is the name, but they should be honest and call it SCAM-dale. So disappointed with this place.
If you speak English, BEWARE! After we asked for English menus, we were treated totally different than the rest of the customers.
First, offered two options for water, still or sparkling. We chose still as we thought it was tap water. Ended up charging us $10USD for that.
Also, they ask for drink orders immediately upon sitting down, without a chance to look at the menu. They recommend the French 69, their play on a French 75 cocktail. Well, they charge you 69 PLN for this drink, twice the price of any other drink on the menu and more than almost any ENTREE on their menu. If you're a Polish native, you would be disgusted by this price for ONE drink. The BEST SCAM they have going for themselves by far. You can definitely tell the staff was trained to pressure english customers into ordering this drink before they're able to see the menu.
When the bill was brought, there was a 45PLN charge at the end of it that didn't correspond to anything we ordered... We asked what this was, they said a "service charge" and I said a service charge for what? This was a table for two people. We pressed the waitress on this and she said it was a charge for big groups. We were two people only and she still wouldn't remove the charge. We even asked a second staff member about the charge to try and reconcile and they stonewalled us again. We confirmed this is a local scam with another business nearby.
Really, so disappointing. Everywhere else we've been in Poland has been amazing. Even when we pointed out their dishonesty, they would still not back down. 10/10, DO NOT RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY. See the proof on my receipt...
Read moreI do realise that restaurants all over the Krakow began decreasing portion sizes but Scandale Royal has taken this philosophy to an absurd level.
We paid quite a memorable amount of money and in return received so little food that even a child would remain hungry. I presume there was about 100g of protein and 150g of carbohydrates on each of our plates. I'm sorry but that's not enough even for a 10 year old, let alone two grown ups.
To make matters even funnier we were presented with a gift-alike-appetizers. TWO little pieces of cheese topped with some jam, served on a big plate. It looked like as if someone was giving us kitchen leftovers.
I honestly feel deceived. I ordered a lunch and instead got a medium sized appetizer instead. As a result we had to visit a fast food place to get properly fed.
Absolutely disgusting attitude of ripping people of while providing as little food as humanly possible....
Read moreWe were going to Charlotte for breakfast, that is next to this place. There was a long queue so we discovered and wanted to give a try to this scandale royal that it had people but no waiting time.
Best decision ever! From outside it looks like small place but in the inside is surpringsinly spacious and uniquely decorated.
Menu for breakfast had everything we needed, for all tastes. And lemonade was awesome.
We ordered Royal eggs and Shakshouka. The Royal eggs were really perfect, full of salmon and perfect made eggs; I really wish the plate would be with one more toast. Shakshouka was perfectly well balanced spiced, delicate.
Conclusion: will be always my favourite place for breakfast (till I try more...
