Centenário — Restaurant in Faro

Location 📌: Located in the touristic city center of Faro, the restaurant serves portugese dishes 🍽.

Food 🍽: we ordered octopus and shrimp kebab with grilled octopus🐙. The food was good, but it needs some improvements. Although the grilled octopus is served with sweet potatoes and spinach which is a very healthy choice, they were all floating in oil, which actually ruins the nutritional balance of the plate. My octopus 🐙was overcooked/crunchy, so I had to eat it by hand, because the knife🍴 was not able to cut it. The dish that my husband had (kebab) had a very interesting presentation that we really appreciated.⭐️👍🤩

Service 🛎: When we arrived, they only served outside, so it was a little bit of waiting time (5-10 min). 🕓 The personnel is kind and welcoming, and the service is fast. 👍👏

Very disappointed. We ordered two of the daily menu’s, one fish and one meat. The starters/couvert were fine but when they brought out the main courses they were both fish. They realised their mistake and left my husband’s fish, apologised and said that my meal would be on its way. After my husband had finished his meal they finally brought mine out. When I had finished we waited for our coffee (which was part of our menu) but none came. No waiters to be seen. Eventually managed to request the bill. We didn’t ask for the coffee (I was so annoyed by this time) and none was offered. Back home we would have been offered something by way of an apology (maybe a drink or something). I made my view clear, politely I might add, but when our bill came it was still for the full amount. Couldn’t believe that they could get something so simple so wrong. Delicious, filling meal to end a day trip from Faro to the Algarve

🥘 What we had Pumpkin Soup Seafood paella (the menu says the portion size was for two, but the staff kindly offered to make a one-person portion for us, bless them! Fried octopus with mushroom risotto (this is so so good)

📱 My friend and I were sitting on the benches in the Christmas market, researching what to eat for dinner that night. I was exploring on Google maps, she on xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform); at one point we both decided on one restaurant, took out our phones and gosh! On both platforms, the reviews for the Centenario were extraordinary that we ended up picking the same restaurant!!!
