Best Restaurant in Faro !!
This is no joke, there are many great restaurants to choose from but this one takes the Top spot for Food
What we had: Ceviche - very fresh flavours with plenty of lime which was delilous
Octopus/calamari - in a black tapioca batter, very different to any others I’ve tasted in the before. A unique and tasteful take on the traditional version
Gyoza - loved the chilli and mango combination of flavours
Mushroom with 65° egg - very hearty and rich flavours
Mustard crème Brûlée- inventive, a great fusion of sweet and savoury (could of done with a touch more mustard to give more of a kick)
Service: Great service, the husband runs front of house and the wife is the chef. Some reviews say that the service is slow but they are missing the point. You have to enjoy the process , the dishes are made fresh with great attention to detail, it’s a dining experience not a race. So kick back relax and let the flavours have a party in your mouth
Atmosphere: Lovely quiet location in the centre of faro, down a back street you wouldn’t know it was there if you weren’t looking for it Perfect for alfresco dining
Overall: As I mentioned at the start this is one of my favourite restaurants, I love that they push the boundaries with the combination of flavours, a lot of thought has gone into creating this menu.
Would definitely go again. So enjoy your meal and immerse yourself in the...
Read moreAfter walking by several times over the week I spent in Faro myself and a group of people from the Madelena Hostel stopped in for dinner. As a chef I have a tendency to go into any dining experience with a very different mentality. After sitting down we were greeted by several of the waitstaff, our drinks were delivered promptly and we order our meal. As the food started to arrive you could tell that Los Locos took great care in their dishes. Everything was amazing, from the Sausage Gyossa, to the marinated Chicken thighs, to the Rabbit was off the charts. However, the Ceviche was the star of the evening. Not only was it one of the best Ceviches I have ever had, but the Peruvian woman who was with us also was very impressed which is a huge deal since this is Ceviches origins. Everything about this place was well thought out and delivered in a laid back, casual dining way but with the care of fine dining. If you want an experience that won't disappoint I suggest making your reservation early because this place fills up quick. In short don't miss out on this experience off the...
Read moreThe Place has potential, you can clearly see they want to deliver interesting dishes combined with a relaxed vibe. However it was in my case underwhelming, and I think they can do much better. the Ceviche is just too little, it’s literally 2 tablespoons, just give more. The rice cracker is a cool idea though oysters are good the octopus tacos are just not good , the radicchio is completely taking over and it’s Hard to taste anything else besides a radicchio salad in a semi crispy shell. No spice , no flavor , no zing. Some smokiness and stronger sear to the octopus , less radicchio with some chipotle/lemon zest sauce could completely change this the main octopus dish has a great side purée , delicious , however the octopus itself was way overcooked , no sear , nothing done to it we ordered the pork checks but got the veal. The veal had way too much mustard on the plate and could also use a much stronger sear, even way too raw inside. The mushrooms portion was also just a tablespoon and it was as a whole not...
