My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant dinner at Adega do Domingos. On a visit from Canada with only knowledge of very basic Portugese, we were served by a friendly young man eager to practice his English with us. The place had a friendly neighbourhood vibe as the various arriving patrons all seemed to be regulars and were greeted with hugs/kisses by whom we assumed were the owners.
We selected a bottle of excellent and reasonably priced red wine from the many options on offer and were brought warm buttered bread and olives (as in most places here, there is a charge for these starters, but it is a modest amount and well worth it). We ordered the baked cod with potatoes and the special steak. It was more than ample food for the two of us....probably was enough for a family of four. We had no room for dessert, but we accepted the offer of ginja afterward.
Total bill came to 48 Euros which we feel was amazing value for the excellent food and friendly treatment...

The food was cold, clearly reheated or defrosted, and everything was swimming in oil — definitely not fresh.
This place feels like a tourist trap. Waiters bring starters that you never ordered. Some guests might think they’re free, but they actually appear on the bill later. We refused them twice, didn’t even touch the second one, and it stayed untouched on the edge of the table. Still, it was added to the bill. Only after we complained did the waiter remove the charge for bread — but if we hadn’t checked, we would have overpaid.
Very disappointing experience and not worth the hype. Be careful if you decide...

The photograph, though a humble envoy, fails to capture the true merit of this 14.50 steak, egg, and fries—a dish both delectable and, by the world’s measure, kind to the purse. It struck the palate just so, leaving me sated in that rare, contented way one hopes for.
The service, as ever, glowed with friendliness; though English eluded them, we bridged the gap with understanding, shared smiles, and fulfilled intentions.
Should you find yourself near, ponder this place for a meal...
