Words will never be enough to describe the experience of a lifetime that you will receive at Alfama63. A beautiful little gem that can only be compared to a piece of heaven on earth is run by an amazing and caring mom and son (Natalia and Nuno) team. We ordered a lot to try different parts of the menu, expecting to take some leftovers to go, but there was no chance we were leaving anything for later once we started trying each dish. Every single dish we tried was out of this world and unquestionably the best of its kind that we’ve ever tried in our lifetimes. You must instantly make the nearest available reservation without a second thought - this will be one of the best decisions you’ve made in your life - it was definitely for us!
I can continue writing forever, but don’t want to discourage others from reading too long a review. I can describe every dish in detail and how amazing it is, but you can pick any single item from the menu and it will be just as divine. I hope that this review can convince at least one person to visit Alfama63 to share the joy of this dreamlike experience. We spent a long time here, eating meals made by an angel in disguise Natalia, having amazing conversations and being generously served by her phenomenal son Nuno, and I almost cried at the end by how much the dessert reminded me of my childhood. You really don’t need to consider any other place!!!
I just had to add: I usually look at the bad reviews to form my opinion on a highly rated place and reading a couple preposterous ones, I instantly knew that I needed to rush to make a reservation here. A bad review on such a heavenly place should be criminal and the people who left such reviews here should be eternally ashamed of themselves. You will be lucky not to encounter such people during your visit to not leave the slightest stain on your experience. How I wish I could tag every single one of them in...

We have been in Portugal for 10 days already. And we have eaten in multiple restaurants during this time. And we chose this place based on the high review and we had by far the worst experience in this trip and in all the restaurants we have been to before. We, me and my husband, entered the place telling the guy we want to sit for about 20 mins or so, to refresh after a guided tour. I asked him if any table is available for a drink since all the tables where marked as reserved, but more than half not being occupied yet. He told us we can sit and we ordered alongside our drinks some "tapas". At that point, he told us that no beer is available. And then one of our three choices is not available either. Nor the soup. Moreover, the guy got defensive because we didn't order any main courses and started to fight us that it's a small business and they need to earn their money. Then, when he brought a part of our order, he started to say that he is fully booked and already declined five people that came after we arrived. 3 out of 6 or 7 tables were still unoccupied. Nedless to say that this man wasn't able to understand that 20 euro for 20 minutes while the reservation wasn't occupied anyways is better than no earnings while the table is waiting for the booking.
DON'T recommend this place unless you want to simply destroy your mood for interacting with the owner that cannot foresee any further than the immediate earnings, rather than the customers feeling good, coming back and recommend this place to other...
Read moreIt is actually hard to put into words how much we enjoyed Alfama63. It was my husband's and my last evening in Lisbon and we wanted a delicious authentic Portugese dinner. We were staying in the Alfama area, and this came up under "restaurants" on Google maps. But it had a 5 star review average (out of 88 reviews) and was just down the street so we decided to look for it. We did not have a reservation (advised since it is a small, intimate place) but were able to get the only open table for two. Everything about our experience was excellent. Nunu (sp.?) was welcoming and brought us a plate of olives and some Ginjinha while we made our selections. We ordered a salad of fresh greens, soft cheese and sliced ham that was easily shared by two. My husband ordered the pork dish and I asked for the seafood. We were warned that portions were very generous - and rightly so! But I'm a pescatarian and my husband is a carnivore so what else could we do? ;-) Both were beyond delicious. We also had a bottle of red wine but were given a glass of the white/green wine to sample as well.
To sum up...this place is excellent. The food is delicious and authentic. The prices are very reasonable. The venue is intimate but very friendly and casual. The service is awesome. We felt quite at home - Thank you, Nunu. We also enjoyed chatting with the other patrons. All in all it was a superlative experience. We highly recommend seeking out this restaurant when you...
