A Truly Authentic Thai Experience in Lisbon
If you're craving real, authentic Thai food, look no further than BAAN Saraivas in Lisbon. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that this place takes its craft seriously. Specializing in the bold, vibrant flavors of southern and eastern Thailand, every dish is a testament to the care and passion of the chefs, who hail directly from Thailand.
The quality of the ingredients is outstanding. Many are imported directly from Thailand, ensuring every bite is as fresh and genuine as it gets. You can taste the difference in each dish—whether it's the punch of a perfectly balanced curry, the fragrant herbs in a stir-fry, or the depth of flavor in their carefully crafted soups. Each meal bursts with layers of flavor, and it’s evident that everything is made from scratch.
The Chicken Pat Bai Grapao was, without a doubt, the standout dish for us—bold, spicy, and full of incredible depth. The balance of flavors in this dish was exceptional, and it quickly became our favorite.
What really sets BAAN Saraivas apart is its commitment to authenticity. Having visited many Thai restaurants around the world, I can confidently say this is one of the most impressive, especially in terms of staying true to traditional Thai cooking methods and ingredients. The aromas alone will transport you straight to Thailand.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant is equally noteworthy. The staff exudes a genuine warmth and attention to detail that enhances the dining experience. It was so good, in fact, that we returned for a second visit during our trip—something I rarely do while traveling.

Read moreWent there for lunch this week. The restaurant is under new ownership and only opened on Monday this week as BAAN Saraivas and the food and staff are incredible. The chef is Thai and the owner, who manages front of house is from Laos. They told us they opened this restarant as they couldn't find authentic south-east Asian food in Lisbon. The menu is exiting and very authentic, a mix of Thai, Malasian, and Laos. I had the business set lunch, which was a massaman curry with fragrant rice, soft drink and tea/coffee, for €17.50. Very good value and delicious. We were given complimentary hors d'ouvres, which was spicy, garlicky peanuts with dry-roasted chillies. My main course wasn't too spicy so i crumbled some chillies into it and that took it to the next level. 3 of our party thought the food was too spicy and had to have ice-cream to calm their months lol. I thought most of the food was just the right amount of spicy- but i was told the salmon was very spicy ( i didn't try it as i'm allergic to fish), not for the feint-hearted, but if you like spicy food you'll love it! Only 2 desserts were on offer but both were perfect. Sticky rice cooked with pandanus leaf and drizzled with coconut milk and served with fresh mango was delicious, and home-made coconut ice-cream served with toasted coconut flakes, also superb. The decor is lovely, clean and modern asian, and there's a co-working space off the main restaurant, which is a great idea. Easy to get to, well served by a couple of metro stations, and ample paid parking nearby....
Read moreFantastic new Thai restaurant that just opened last month! This place was previously a Portuguese restaurant but the new owners (husband and wife) took over and revamped it to the most authentic and DELICIOUS Thai restaurant we have ever been in Lisbon! We met and spoke to the husband and could tell how passionate he and his wife are about their restaurant and how much love and care is put into the quality of the ingredients and menu. To top it off, the chefs were flown over from Thailand, which gives it even more authenticity!
Very low key from the outside, the moment you step in, you’re immediately transported to the fragrances of Thai cooking. The staff are all so friendly and warm, super attentive!
We ordered the pork skewers to start, the pad thai and kra pao for the mains, and finished off with the mango sticky rice and homemade coconut ice cream (the food was too good, I forgot to take pics of everything!). We love spicy food and we were so glad they were not shy with adding an extra kick of spice to our dishes! 10/10 on all the dishes. Extra points for the delicious tom yum peanuts they offered before the start of the meal! People may complain the price is high but the quality and the portion sizes (and even the location space) make up for it!
Super happy to find a high quality and traditional Thai restaurant in the city center of Lisbon. We will be coming back...
