Clara Jardim — Restaurant in Lisbon

We were hoping for a nice dining experience our last night in Portugal. Celia and her team at Clara Jardim exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is housed within an 18th century mansion in adjacent to a park on Campo dos Mártires da Pátria. Clara Jardim has a well appointed dining room and a beautiful garden. Celia has created a more elegant traditional dining experience. I had the seafood puff pastry for a main course that I thought was excellent. My wife had the duck breast which she claims was fantastic, tender and delicious. Not being that well versed in Portuguese wines we let Celia do the hard work and make recommendations. We very much enjoyed the Douro while blend and the Alentajo red. After we finished eating we asked about a port digestif and Celia proceeded to take us on a port wine tour explaining the differences between vintage and tawny ports and letting us try a couple examples. We finished off with coffee prepared and served in an entertaining manner that’s tough to describe, it included glass vessels, burners and boiling water. If you go ask for coffee (they have decaf), you won’t be disappointed.

Our dining experience was excellent and the perfect way to finish a throughly enjoyable twelve days in Portugal. I highly recommend...

Went to get to know the space and get a feel of the atmosphere as well as the staff, to see if I would bring my family there for my birthdays dinner.

As a Portuguese I have to say that I am quite disappointed! The staff weren’t able to explain the menu and create a friendly dialogue through all the questions I had.

In the first place they said that the entidade patronal (which is a dated and odd way to refer to the manager) wouldn’t allow for clients to come in and get to know the restaurant. I was very surprised, in a bad way obviously!

I guess that, the lack of service, training and smiles are the order of the day in this place.

This is unbelievable, the waiter ran into me on the street randomly near the restaurant where I was, interrupted a conversation that I was having with a client of mine and started complaining about my review. We were very spooked by his sudden approach!! Tb is happen at 16h30 21/06

Absolutely lovely. Beautiful garden and very kind and attentive staff.

The food was excellent, we had the duck confit and loin of porco preto.

Just delightful - I look forward to a cosy drink in the beautiful bar...
