Em Alta na Baixa is a gem in Lisbon’s vibrant Baixa district. The restaurant exudes elegance and charm, offering a delightful ambiance with its spacious terrace and thoughtfully decorated interior featuring handcrafted furniture and unique lighting.

The menu boasts a diverse selection of international and contemporary dishes, each meticulously prepared and presented. The variety of wines, cocktails, and beverages complements the culinary offerings perfectly. During my visit, I had the pleasure of savoring the duck magret and the confit cod, both of which were exceptional.

The service is where Em Alta na Baixa truly shines. Our waiter, Rui, was exceptionally attentive and helpful, enhancing our dining experience with his professionalism and warm demeanor. His recommendations were spot-on, and he ensured that every aspect of our meal was enjoyable.

The restaurant’s location in the heart of Baixa allows diners to immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere of Lisbon. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner, or a place to celebrate a special occasion, Em Alta na Baixa is an excellent choice. The combination of exquisite cuisine, inviting ambiance, and outstanding service makes it a must-visit...

Given the prices of the food you would expect the service to be exemplary so I will not shower too much praise on this place for its service. They were attentive, friendly, the hostess knew English and happily explained certain elements of our dishes. Our food took a long time to arrive (over an hour) as they delivered everything at once (we were a table of 12 and some people may have ordered more than one item.) I tried the octopus, it was a decent attempt but the excessive use of garlic and oil could not make up for how the spinach was cooked. The spinach was boiled. Slapped onto the plate barely drained. A massive let down given how flavourful the octopus was. Everyone's food was VERY oily, it was as though the chef was afraid to let the quality of the meat/fish shine through which I did not expect for its proximity to the waterfront. I would recommend the nacional anthem (it has ginjinha) it's cherry flavour and ice makes it a nice addition to a warm afternoon meal. Note that the gin and tonic was huge by comparison. Overall a nice experience (service, drinks and atmosphere) but I would not recommend it as I think for the price there are better places in...

A must go! For 3 reasons: 1) The ambiance. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. It’s evident that the owner put a lot of effort in designing the place. It’s located just off the main Rua Augusta, very clean, and relaxing ambiance. 2) The food! I was given a welcome glass of sparkling wine. I ordered wagyu steak which was prepared perfectly - it was juicy and flavorful!I had the pomegranate martini and it was also delicious! 3) THE SERVICE! The host was very welcoming and friendly. As mentioned, he offered me a welcome drink. Now for the chef’s kiss…the server, FERNANDO! Oh my gosh, he definitely made my experience, not just at the restaurant but at Lisbon overall as a wonderful experience! He set the bar very high with top tier service. He would check in often and was very personable, friendly and funny. I was looking for a rooftop bar to go afterwards and he basically gave me a lay of the land of Lisbon and recommended a really good rooftop bar. He wrote it down for me and he even escorted me down the stairs, walked me outside of the restaurant and pointed the direction to the bar. Again, amazing service!!! I’m really glad I went.

We couldn’t resist coming back to this amazing restaurant, and once again, it exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, Alex and Eunice made us feel incredibly special with their warm and welcoming hospitality. It truly felt like we were being treated as VIPs. This time, we tried the codfish carpaccio for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious — light, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. A true culinary highlight! And of course, we couldn’t leave without having the passion fruit sangria again. It was just as unforgettable as the first time, bursting with real, fresh passion fruit. It’s rare to find such authentic passion fruit in Lisbon, but this place makes sure you get the real deal every time. The sangria alone is worth the visit! Our experience here has been consistently fabulous, and we’ve already decided that when we’re back in Lisbon, this will be our first stop. Highly recommended, truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had!
