Tucked away in the vibrant streets of Graça, Garum is a hidden gem that makes the Lisbon dining scene proud. The restaurant brings an innovative twist to seafood, combining Portuguese tradition with a bold, modern approach. From start to finish, every dish brims with freshness, creativity, and a meticulous attention to detail that leaves a lasting impression.
The crudo is a must-try — fresh, delicate, and impeccably seasoned, it lets the natural flavors of the fish shine. Each bite practically melts in your mouth, an excellent start to what proves to be a remarkable meal. For the main course, I opted for the oven-baked Branzino, which was a masterclass in simplicity. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy skin and moist, flaky interior that paired beautifully with fresh herbs and subtle citrus undertones.
Another standout was the tuna with crispy sweet potatoes. The tuna was beautifully seasoned, extremely fresh, and the sweet potatoes added a fantastic crunch and sweetness to complement the fish. It’s clear Garum takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients at their peak freshness, elevating each dish to an impressive level.
The meal ended with a show-stopping carob volcano cake, served warm with an accompanying ice cream that was a delightful balance of rich and refreshing. This dessert was a true surprise — playful, inventive, and utterly delicious.
The gentleman who started this place is a very well known chef in Lisbon , he speaks English well and love to share a little of his passion with you….,,you literally will feel like you are the right person, in the right place, at the right time!!!
Overall, Garum is a culinary treasure in Lisbon, ideal for anyone looking to experience fish and seafood at its freshest, with a twist of creativity. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and the service impeccable, making it a perfect spot for a memorable night out in the heart of Graça. With some very impressive , show stopping local Portuguese...
Read moreVery affordable and delicious tasting menu. Each dish had a great concept with unique flavors and used fresh ingredients and fish with non traditional techniques to make a unique experience. I will say some things like the lack of flavour in the sushi rice for their signature sardine nagiri for example put them a small step from that next level for me. I would also wish there were more suggested wine pairings rather than the large menu of wines to choose from.
Overall a great experience and food and I would definitely come back this is the kind of place that should get attention from influencers rather than some of the places more downtown that use subpar ingredients and are just as expensive if not...
Read moreAs indicated by other reviews, if you want an amazing dining experience try Garum. The restaurant is small and very pleasant, it does not look fancy, hardly pretentious, and what is hidden is one of the most innovative meals I have had. We were treated to a tasting menu, not typically offered, which was wonderful. Most dishes were excellent, the lupin bean hummus was a little plain, and overall simply great. They even had a refined version of the ancient Roman fish sauce, Garum. The service and explanations were excellent. The chef is inventive and dedicated to local...
