Manu Resturante e tapas bar — Restaurant in Lisbon

Extremely expensive for the quality and quantity of the food. We believe the good google ratings are staged. The tapas were terrible, the quality of the bread was mediocre and the ingredients used on top of it were average at best. The fried fish tapas were disgusting and no one can make me believe it’s “home-made”. PS: three small ones for 5€ is laughable. The shrimps and the meat dish were okay but for 11-13€ dishes the quantities were extremely small for the price it’s ridiculous. Lisbon has way better restaurants with better food and more reasonably priced! *The olives and nuts were initially offered to us as an entrée but we later found out that we were charged 4,50€ for it. **The sangria was not good, too sweet, mediocre ingredients were used and simply isn’t worth 15€. A 58€ bill for a 1 star “restaurant”. Absurd!

Edit after owner’s response: I find it interesting that my friend and I both gave a well deserved 1 star review after our bad experience at Manu Resturante and the next day two 5 stars reviews appeared. Don’t get fooled people, go eat...

Super cozy vibe inside and a no rush atmosphere despite the limited seating. Ate here twice and was beyond well taken care of both times. Our waitress (who I’m beyond embarrassed I did not get the name of), treated us like family. Our first visit we came with no reservation and had to wait a little bit (which was absolutely no problem, we were willing to wait), and the waitress felt so bad that she actually gave us free shots at the end of our meal!

One of my favorite menu items was the beef Pica-pau, which came as a recommendation. All the food we tried was just beyond delicious, really have no other words. You just have to come here and try it for yourself. All of the menu items and drinks are also crazy cheap for what you get. Excellent prices.

I’m going to miss this place and the staff so much. It’s well worth a visit and even more so well worth the wait if you don’t have a reservation. If I’m ever back in Lisbon, this is going to be my first...

We chose the place based on some online recommendations but I felt like it was overrated since the first moment we step from the door. 1-just in front of the restaurant there were a lot of trash out of the bins and smelled awful. Not good for your appetite 2- All employees are non-Portuguese which the food also is not Portuguese I think, (as in if you want to eat pasta you don’t want someone Greek is cooking it, an Italian chef would be better option ) 3- Portions are really small compared the amount you are paying We had 1 single tapas platter and 1 double tapas platter it was % 90 same portion. I did not understand what makes the 2nd dish more expensive 👎🏻 But the employees are friendly and helpful and shrimp dish was delicious so to be fair 3 stars.
