Portugal 🇵🇹 | Lisbon's 4 Must-Try Restaurants + Pitfalls to Avoid

Tanoa Cafe is breakfast nirvana, a sensory delight that has profoundly redefined what a morning meal should be. Their Egg's Benedict, a marquee dish, sends your taste buds on a gastronomic expedition. It is prepared to perfection, with flawlessly poached eggs, expertly toasted English muffins, and a Hollandaise sauce so divine it must be a secret gift from the culinary gods. The cafe is bustling with an irresistible energy that feels like a warm hug from an old friend. It's a combination of the soulful music humming from the speakers, the laughter and friendly chatter, and the intoxicating smell of fresh coffee. This space is more than just a cafe; it's an experience. But what truly separates Tanoa Cafe from its counterparts is the staff. Each server is a beacon of friendliness, greeting everyone with genuine warmth and smiles that can brighten even the cloudiest day. They are efficient without rushing, making everyone feel valued and appreciated. Not to mention, they are remarkably easy on the eyes, a veritable ensemble of beauties that adds an aesthetic appeal to the entire Tanoa experience. Tanoa Cafe is a testament to the magic that can be created when passion for food, love for people, and respect for quality ingredients converge. It's more than worth a visit—it's an essential stop on any culinary tour. And who knows? It might just become your new favorite breakfast spot.

A small restaurant which unless you are looking for it you cannot find it, yet it is hidden in plain sight just like any treasure. This place has by far the best breakfast/brunch I have eaten in any of the many countries I have traveled in. The food is amazing, a complex of multiple flavors, perfect seasoning of everything right down to the simple slice of toast. Creamy scrambled eggs perfectly seasoned along with the perfect Pizza Toast rich in crispiness and perfect seasoning. The coffee is otherworldly. They roast their own beans and they managed to create flavored coffee with multiple flavors. My personal favorite was the Irish Cream flavor. Works so well in an Americano, keeping it light and giving you the caffeine dose you need. I not only highly recommend you dine in here, but dine in here every time you are in Lisbon because it is worth it. The price is worth it compared to any Western Country. You get more than what you are spending. I dare compare the style of cooking to Michelin Star flavors and perfection of the dishes themselves. The waitress was incredibly nice and friendly and that also says a lot.

During my visit, I was struck by the rich taste and impeccable presentation of the Avocado and Egg Toast. The dish was an absolute masterpiece, combining the rich creaminess of perfectly ripe avocados with the warm, comforting embrace of perfectly cooked eggs, all sitting atop a canvas of crisp, fresh toast. It was, without doubt, the best version of this classic breakfast staple I have ever had the pleasure of tasting, a harmonious blend of textures and flavors dancing in perfect unison on the plate and palate alike.

No meal at Tanoa would be complete without indulging in their stellar lineup of beverages, and the açaí smoothie is a standout star in a menu of champions. Bursting with the vibrant flavors of fresh açaí berries, the smoothie struck a perfect balance between sweetness and tartness, offering a refreshing and healthful retreat from the Lisbon heat. The rich, deep flavor profile of the açaí, paired with a velvety smooth texture, created a delightful experience that was both invigorating and satisfying.

The café itself offers a warm and welcoming ambiance, inviting patrons to linger a while longer with its comfortable seating and friendly service. The staff showcases the epitome of Portuguese hospitality, offering suggestions with genuine smiles and ensuring every guest feels at home.
