Time travel is possible. You will see it once you enter this place. It looks like it might have brought you back into the 1950s. Since I didnât find any evidence about when it opened the door for the first time, I can only go with the rumors which are whispering something about 70 years ago. And another thing related to time: bring some of it when you want to try the bifanas here. You have to join a waiting line of some sort and thus you shouldnât only show up when already starving. The first time I gave it a try it took around an hour to make it to the counter and place my order. Was it worth it? You bet! Since then I became sort of a fan and regular. These typical Portuguese buns filled with traditionally prepared ingredients are just too good to not be wanted. Also, the prices are more than reasonable. You will have a hard time finding a place which offers fresh buns filled with grilled meat and cheese, seasoned with homemade chili sauce and mustard for under 4âŹ. It is just the cult and culture around here. I couldnât find any advertising or fancy appearance on social media or elsewhere. But when you have joined the line, youâll meet people from all over the world who picked up the rumors. I talked to people from lots of European countries as well as from Arizona or Hong Kong. All credits to the staff, of course! The face of the operation is the owner, constantly moving behind the counter, drafting beer, pouring coffee, wrapping takeaway food in foil and paper and talking to anyone and everybody. But the heart of it all is the young lady who performs her art at the window, a steaming skillet with marinated meat cuts at her disposal to fill the buns. And when ordered, she will fire up the grill or the pan to get fresh slices grilled or eggs fried. Another rumor has it that here you will get the best bifanas available in Lisbon. When you ask the owner about it, he replies: âDonât believe it.â Followed by a âBut itâs true!â, accompanied by a...
Read moreWent to Portugal in June/July 2023 and O Triangulo da Ribeira had the best bifana and bitoque sandwiches during our entire three week trip. Could definitely tell that the meat was properly seasoned and cooked well. Can order sandwiches for take-out as well. Also had a phenomenal traditional Pasteis de Bacalhau which was delicious. We were told about this place by a local tour guide and it did not disappoint. Located near the Time-Out Market. The owner was working when we visited and the prices are very reasonable. They also have a house piri-piri sauce which was very flavorful. Would highly recommend if you are searching for a traditional bifana or bitoque in the...
Read moreAnd finally I made it! Since arriving to Lisbon last summer I always wanted to try their sandwiches! So many options to choose from , all of them super cheap and super tasty. Be ready to wait around 30min to be served because they are always full and all food is freshly made. After not being sure in what to choose u decided to order Entremeada con Ovo e queijo, meaning fresh bacon with egg omelette and cheese. Yummy!!! Cannot wait to go again and to try their bifanas! A must visit just at the back of timeout market so instead of paying crazy...
