We came to the restaurant 2 years ago and we had an amazing time. The food was great, the prices were really decent and the owners were really nice. Overall a great experience.
Came back yesterday, and I assume a change of ownership happened because this was a really poor experience.
When we arrived the service seemed good and we want to thank our waitress of the evening who was really amicable to us, but upon opening the menu you realise that this restaurant has unfortunately become a tourist trap.
First our long island ice teas were simple non-alcoholic ice teas, but when the appetizers came is when we knew for sure this was not the same restaurant anymore. 8 frozen small shrimps in garlic for 13 euros ? 7 or 8 frozen calamaris with two orange slices for 9 euros ? The melon and ham was also really forgettable, and unfortunately so was the grilled chouriço we absolutely loved 2 years ago.
We went with friends because we wanted to show them this gem, but in the end we did not order main courses because of how disappointing it was.
And to top it all, the waiter in the end refused to apply the mandatory TheFork discount on our entries and we had to negociate for it.
Really disappointed..
Edit : The owner just called me to ask me to take down this review. As harsh as it might seem, I think it's only a fair reflexion of the way our...
Read moreI recently visited this wonderful place and was captivated by its atmosphere. The interior is cozy, with soft lighting and beautiful decor elements that create a feeling of warmth and coziness. The background music is not intrusive, but at the same time adds a special note to the overall mood. All the staff are very polite and attentive, but I would especially like to highlight the waitress Nanu and especially her smile!
I couldn’t help but be impressed by her friendliness and professionalism. She understood what I needed at first glance and offered excellent dishes from the menu, telling me about each in detail. It was clear that she was really interested in making guests feel comfortable. She arrived on time, without being too intrusive, and always with a sincere smile. The whole evening I felt warm, as if I was in my native place.
This kind of attention to detail really makes a visit to the restaurant special, and thanks to people like this waitress, you want to come...
Read moreWe stumbled into this restaurant accidentally and so glad we did. Hidden under stairs down this alley you will be find a gem of Lisbon. This cozy restaurant has beautiful brick walls, kitchen gadgets hanging from the walls, and limited seating. The ambiance is similar to a European countryside restaurant — very warm and cozy. If you’re lucky, an older fellow will greet you as you enter the restaurant and seat you at your special table. I don’t know how many languages he can speak but my two times here on back-to-back nights, he probably spoke 5-6 languages with the guests. We came here back to back nights bc the food was incredible! On the bread and pâté alone, I could feast. I cannot wait to have more nights in Lisbon because the entire menu is a must try. Bring a date, have a very good bottle of vino verde, and enjoy the rich and decadent flavors of this spot. The staff are truly remarkable as well. I feel lucky for having stumbled into...
