Sakura — Restaurant in Lisbon

TLDR: Nice experience in large groups, a good amount of options and nice sushi, good staff although the kitchen is not very organised, too noisy for dates/very small groups.

The sushi itself doesn’t feel super fresh and we got a very suspicious piece or two, but we still ordered a big amount so it was a very small percentage of bad quality. The kitchen didn’t get the amount of pieces right, and we had to ask for drinks since they took more than half an hour to arrive, on the other side the waiter that talked to us was super kind, always asking if everything was nice with a heartfelt smile. The place itself has a nice look, the Asian seats are very comfortable and adorable. That being said the place was pretty full and super loud, can’t hear the people on the other side of the table kind of loud, didn’t help that a rude group was screaming there on that...

The atmosphere and the overall decoration and furniture layout seems very typical but is not very well taken care of. As an example, the little glass dividers at the table were dirty and wasnt very comfortable to eat while looking at it. The service is done in a very fast pace but a bit confusing at times, since misunderstandings can happen and if they do you wait a long time until someone from the staff looks at you and comes to your table. The food taste is overall ok, but the rice was a bit dry and we had to dunk it in soy sauce to add some moisture and flavour. The sashimi and the gyozas were very well done but all of the shrimp we ordered wasnt cleaned properly. You could see they left all the intestines. I came here before with my customers and had a great meal. This time I brought my mom and aunt for dinner, I had already had dinner before and was just going to have a drink while they eat and then leave earlier. I was just bringing them to a nice place to eat because they felt like sushi, and just keeping them company for a while, while I have a beer. Unfortunately the waiter that sat us, insinuated I'm going to have the drink and eat from their food, so he literally said to me: "I don't want to see you eating from their food". I had just sat down! Unbelievable. You can treat people like this in your country but you cannot do this in Portugal! This is a country where we trust people and we trust our customers first!
