Palato Restaurante — Restaurant in Matosinhos

We had a very late lunch here with six people on a very busy public holiday afternoon. The restaurant was packed and there was a long wait, about 45 minutes.

We have two fish, a sole and a turbot, and skewers of squid and shrimp. The seafood was perfectly grilled outdoors. They also served smashed potatoes and salad. It was all delicious and the wines made it better.

Service was great once we were seated. I think that they were struggling to manage the wait list. We were seated in a sunny area; they could have seated us at a better table out of the hot sun but it seemed one server was moving tables around without a plan for those waiting to be seated. They need better organisation for guests waiting to be seated.

An Amazing restaurant. Premium service and exceptional food. Just off the main streets in Matosinohs. Prices are absolutely in line with what you get (no more no less). Personnel is friendly and speak English.

Had one of the best fish soup (fish chowder) since several years. Sardines, although frozen (sigh), were fried to perfection in clean oil. If I've to be picky, the only thing that was not perfect was the octopus, nor cooked on a charcoal grill but on - probably - gas plate not cleaned enough that left a tiny bit of bitter taste.

Clean, though small toilets inside, where a much bigger restaurant room is awaiting you. So don't judge the restaurant just from the exterior.

Absolutely recommend for your fish extravaganza...

Had a nice lunch here! We ordered the fried bacalhao as a starter to share for 2 people. Much larger portion than expected, really nice! I ordered the lemon risotto with fish(dont remember what type). The fish was really fresh with a nice charred taste to it! Pairer nicely with the lemon risotto, which also was cooked nicely. The other dish, vegetable rice with fish, was not equally good. The rice was kind watery and not that seasoned. But the fish was nicely cooked. We came to the restaurant quite close to closing(we did not know that), but realized it when the staff was quite hurried to get out of there, turned off the music etc. Felt kind of unwelcoming.
