Sadly I feel compelled to submit my review of this restaurant. My friend and I booked a trip to Porto and located the old quarters of Porto on our second night having visited Afonso the previous night as endorsed by the sadly deceased Anthony Bourdin as being the best place to eat Francsesinha. Which was pedestrian at best notwithstanding subjective culinary tastes. We Found Praca 63 and it seemed to have a good vibe so we had a couple of beers and asked a couple at an adjacent table what the food was like. They said the cod was really good and so we thought ok we will look around and come back if we don’t see anything better. We ended up back there after a few drinks at the Hard Rock Cafe. I naturally ordered the Cod and my friend the rump steak. When it arrived my instinct was test it didn’t look great. A lump of cod in breadcrumbs swimming in low quality oil and 4 boiled potatoes in skins. Nothing else. The cod was chewy smelt off and was tasteless and full of bones. The potatoes were well potatoes! As I was very hungry I ate as much as I could but left the majority. I told the waiter that it rated amongst the worse meals I had ever eaten. He was unapologetic. We paid the bill and left. I would...
Read moreThis was my first meal in Portugal. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was fantastic. No language barriers and staff is very friendly. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with gas heaters.
Located at a slightly busy intersection with cozy & relaxing vibes.
As a Canadian who has a wide variety of flavors, the food wasn't my favorite. The Francesina is a local specialty. At its core, it is a ham & steak sandwich with cheese, covered in a tomato based gravy. The cheese is very pungent and salty. Bread baked crispy. I didn't find the flavors exciting and the combination didn't seem to work for me
The Bacalhau Bolini, a cod fritter, was crispy and slightly fishing. Has a chew to the bite. Overall it's decent but it would've been nice with a vinaigrette or lemon
The salmon was my least favorite. Dry and not flavorful.
Boiled Potato or Potato crispy/chips are the standard sides which always come unseasoned.
Overall, not suited for a western palette. I recommend this restaurant for sipping wine and...

My suspicions were first raised when i noticed the table of local girls beside us had food which was not on the English language menu we were given.
When I eventually got to speak to the waiter (he was more interested in flirting and taking photos with those local girls) about the food they had he said something about they having an uber eats brand and he could ask the manager if we can order from that.
We had already chosen from the menu so we said it's fine and made our order... Then the waiting game begins...
30 maybe 40 minutes pass by, we see people arrive after us get their food. So we decide to cut our losses and run.
I inform the waiter about the unacceptable delay and how other people who arrived after us have been served and he made something up about those people just moving seat from inside. Nice try but we did see them walk in from the street after us.
Don't waste your time with...
