My review would probably be four stars if it weren't for the great service. I know weird to say, but we came to watch Wolves. When we go there, there was a man watching Liverpool. We had drinks and watched Wolves on our phone. Then Liverpool went down 2-0 and the Gentlemen left. So we asked if they could change in to Wolves. They did, but then some other people minutes later asked for it to be Liverpool and they changed it back. This was a bit disappointing and despite being there much longer didn't really get to watch on the TV. Later on, they suggested we watch on one of the TVs in the back part of the restaurant (not sure why they didn't suggest that earlier, so we watched added time from the second half back there). Probably a good bar to watch Premier League if you support one of the big six clubs, otherwise, not guaranteed you will get to watch. The drinks were good, and reasonably priced. The staff was really friendly as well. They suggested a shot that was really interesting. All in all good, but wish they allowed us to watch Wolves on the TV or opened the back area sooner, knowing we...
Read moreWe went to watch the Portugal v Croatia football ball and we got there early thinking it being a pub it would get crowded with energetic fans of the club. Not the case. This is the game where Ronaldo scored his 900th goal and I was the only one cheering when it happened. The service wasn’t great, we had to go to the bar a few times to order drinks and or food and was told we had to wait on our server at the table. After sitting a few more minutes the bartender eventually came over after seeing were weren’t being waited on and our first rounds were empty. We ordered food and it was average pub fare. We tried the Francesca here and the meat was tough. Certainly not the best we had tried and closer to the bottom. It is a classic Irish pub though, we always visit them in other countries and their food is closer to American food so we can eat some comfort food. They did have plenty of TV’s and I guess our expectations were high for the Portugal match. Maybe in Lisbon it would’ve...
Read moreSaw Bonaparte as one of the recommended pubs in the time out list of things to do in Porto. Didn't expect much, but was taken away by the place. First of all the staff were super hospitable and helped us find a seat when we thought the pub was full. For smokers, the rear end of the place has indoor smoking. The ventilation makes sure that the place doesn't smell smokey at all. Drinks are fairly cheap for Porto rates. But, the best thing about the place is the food. We had some veal croquettes and a black pig burger. It was just amazing. The meat was so well cooked and just melted in your mouth. The ambience in the pub is great as well. Would definitely recommend Bonaparte hands down. A very chill place to have a smoke, enjoy a drink, and eat some lip smackingly good food. All while you are in the attentive hands of...
