I arrived earlier than my scheduled booking . The staff graciously showed me to my table and started service. There were only 2 other customers there as I had booked the first table of the night .
Service at the beginning was swift , efficient and attentive . A plate of olives and bread was immediately served to me . I wasn’t asked if I wanted them , nor was I told that I would be charged for it
I ordered the tuna tartare with avocado and lime sorbet . It was outstanding ,not only was it the best , most creative tuna tartare I’ve tasted . It’s the best dish I have had to date . If you can only eat out once in Porto , this dish is the one to have . It is Michelin star worthy .
I had the Iberian pork pork cheek which melted in my mouth . Another hit .
While the food was outstanding , the service badly lets this place down . A bottle of water should be left on the table , instead I struggled to get anyone’s attention to refill my water .
As the place got slightly busier , the service just fell to pieces . The wait staff seemed to get their priorities wrong . Plenty of empty tables were there , yet the wait staff thought cleaning tables was more important than looking after paying customers
I wanted to order desert , but after waiting 40 minutes , where no one come near me , I gave up and decided to leave It was another long wait to try and pay the bill . I asked one of the wait staff for the bill . No sign of the bill. In frustration I ended up putting my coat on and going to the counter .
When I got the bill , I saw they charged me for the bread and olives that I never asked for , nor were the staff transparent about the cost . Overall the appalling service let this place down . Food is probably one of the best in Porto . Please train your wait staff , there is no excuse for...
Read moreWe stayed next door and would walk past a few times a day. Well, as luck would have it... We wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine and had no opener. I decided to ask if they would open it for me. They were so wonderful about it, I decided we would return for dinner.
We knew this was a fancier establishment and it would be an expensive meal. Therefore, we decided to pull out the stops and to dine by suggestions. My favourite.
We began with bread, olives & pickled onions. The bread was wonderfully fresh, the olives were so good, I had to fight my wife for my share. She normally does not like olives and these were very tasty in the olive oil and the accompaniment of pickling juice.
The second round of bread came with chorizo spread and another spread that escapes me. Was delicious though.
Then came the Iberia de bellota. Shaved ham with olive oil.
Next was the Tuna Tare Tare with avocado and lime sorbet. It sounds crazy but it was delicious. I do not care for avocado and I enjoyed it immensely. Also the seasoning on the Tuna was very tasty as well.
Following the Tuna was the potatas bravas and, very thick with a wonderful spiced tomato sauce and mayonnaise and dressed with salt. Again, another spectacular dish.
Finally, the black cod in miso, such a wonderful taste, marinated for 3 days, perfectly prepared.
All of this was paired with a succulent bottle of Scylla white. Right between sweet and dry. Perfect respite for the palate. Post meal our dessert was a espresso martini for my wife and I had the Porto Tonic. Porto Tonic is a treasure and should be tried at least once if not revered and savoured regularly. We felt truly spoiled and had a marvellous time this is...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic place! We've spent 2 weeks traveling across Portugal, and eating in many different restaurants, but this place was definitely our favorite! The service is friendly, attentive and fast! They also had great recommendations for the food and the wines to pair it with! We had tuna tartare with avocado and lemon sorbet. It sounded like an unusual combination at first, but it was the best tuna tartare I ever had! Very creative and absolutely delicious! Crispy fried octopus and goat chanfana we also great and very tasty! The star of the evening was a platter of jamon iberico served with different cheeses and olive oil. I really like jamon, and we've had it in 5 different restaurants during our time in the country...they were all great, but this one was by far the best! I can't even describe it, you got to try it for yourself! For the desert I went with Romeo and Juliet since it sounded so unusual (cheese ice cream) that I had to try it. I'm a big fan of cheesecakes so I had to check if this compares. To put it simply - it's the best desert I had in those 2 weeks and better than any cheesecake I had! This place is 10/10! Keep up...
