First things first, it is indeed a cute location with a nice, very quiet terrace in the middle of the city. Upon entering, you are pleasently surprised by the peace this location offers. But unfortunatelly, that's about all.The steak, the pasta and the fries were absolutely terrible.First, I ordered an entrecote, i asked the waiter to give me what she thaught it was the best beef entrecote they have, and to cook it medium. It arrived nearly burnt on the outside and raw on the inside.Plus, it was a low quality beef. Then I told myself i need to order something very easy to cook and i asked for pasta carbonara.Even a 6 year old could make them, but not this "chef". It is not visible in the photo, but that was NOT carbonara...the sauce tasted similar to quattro formaggi, to which they added some type of meat (hard to believe to be guanciale).I even asked a friend to taste it, he said the same...that is NOT carbonara. If the manager reads this, carbonara is pasta with egg yolk, parmezan and guanciale.Romanians do make it with cooking cream and bacon and that is fine, it's still tasty, but these weren't even made in the romanian style. It was a sort of pasta i've never seen in my life. The fries were barely cooked, probably the chef is always on the run, cooking with high temperature, whick makes the food cooked only on the outside and not cooked enough on the inside. The crostini and bruschette were average. The pizza diavola was good. The wine average.Probably for a pizza and a beer, this place is fit.But if you know a bit about food and you have some medium expectations, it's best to eat somewhere else. The service was also average, the parking is...
Read moreWe have visited Il Mulino during our Sunday’s visit to Bucharest. Restaurant is located in narrow quite ugly street so you can miss it and it would be a pity.
This is very nice Italian restaurant. Few tables inside and another few outside with separated smoking area which is very unusual from we have seen in Romania so far.
There is fireplace Owen inside which builds very nice atmosphere from the entrance.
Menu full of choice from cold, hot starters, and though fishes, meat, pizzas, pastas, risottos until desserts.
We have tried grilled squids and grilled octopus for starters. Both perfectly prepared - tender, smell of smoke and lemon. Delicious.
For main course we have taken grilled tuna (medium rare), mixed vegetables and pasta with ricotta in truffles sauce (forgot the name). Tuna was great - nice texture, beautiful smell and taste. Pasta was outstanding - we have agreed that mix of notes of cheese, truffles was just perfect and best we have experienced so far.
Desserts. Tiramisu and chocololate Dudley. Good. Not spectacular like main dishes.
Service was good. Waitress was very aware and noticed which meals are going to be shared between our 4 and anticipating when additional spoons or plates would be required.
Espresso correct. Missing speciality coffee but it seems people here are not so much after coffee as you could expect.
Overall great experience. We are adding this place to...
