Shenyang — Restaurant in Cluj Metropolitan Area

I think it’s high time for me to leave a review here in order to help other people discover one of the best places to eat or to order food in Cluj-Napoca!

I recommend this place for VEGAN people, for VEGETARIANS, and also for the meet lovers.

I discovered Shenyang in March this year, although I work at the Faculty of Letters. But I am grateful I discovered it! I stopped order Chinese food from other places since then, because I found the perfect flavour with Shenyang!

You can find this restaurant on both Glovo and Tazz apps, but you have to make sure that they deliver in your area first. I ordered food for one of my friends who lives in Manastur, Ion Mester area, and I discovered they don’t deliver there. But it is manageable, because you can wait for the food in other areas of Cluj and gather together with your friends after you receive it.

I ate form Shenyang the next dishes: Ma la fen - it is very spicy. For people who never eat spicy, it is very spicy! So be careful, but it could be very tasty for spicy fans. Tăieței de orez cu legume (și uneori cu pui) - Rice noodles with vegetables (and sometimes with chicken) - my favourite dish with both chicken or just vegetables! In my opinion, the chicken flavour does not make any difference, so I started eating them just with vegetables and they are still delicious! Lăstari de porumb cu orez (și uneori cu pui) - Corn with rice (and sometimes with chicken) - in this dish, the chicken feels better than in the case of rice noodles. The dish is a great choice without meet as well and the sauce is something unique! Pachețele de primăvară cu legume - Spring rolls with vegetables - the best ones! They are big, well-fried and price friendly. Jiao zi cu carne de vită - Jiao zi (similar to dumplings) with beef meet - very tasty! The dough was a bit too thick for me, but they are a lot and you can eat from this dish other days, too, combining it with a side dish. Jiao zi cu ciuperci - Jiao zi with mushrooms - better than the beef one, in my opinion.

I recommend to you to always buy soy sauce and to add to the dishes, because they don’t have that much sauce and it gives them a great flavour!

In addition, you can both order and eat there. The restaurant is located on Cloșca street, namely in the corner between Cloșca and Horea. The place is small inside and it has a semi-opened kitchen. If you prefer delivery, the dishes are very big, price friendly (each dish is no more than 5 euros, 25 RON), and they always arrived to my place almost hot, which is a great plus! But you have to know that you wait around 45 minutes to receive the order, especially in the evening. For 2 persons, it is enough to order 2 dishes and some spring rolls. It is still a lot of food to share.

I was told by a friend that is quite the foodie to go here. He told me exactly what I wrote now as a title for this review.

Indeed, when you first go to this place, you would thing "what's with this dump?" But don't let yourself be fooled by this and miss out on the great food inside.

On of the cooks is actually Chinese, so the food she is cooking is quite authentic.

I went there with my boyfriend cause we were quite curious. It took quite a bit of time to settle on what to order, cause there were so many delicious choices displayed there! I did appreciate that they had pictures for some of the meals, not just the plain list with what you can get.

We finally decided on the Beef Noodles, Algae Soup, "Ants in a Tree", Jiao Zi with pork and chicken, Fried Milk and Bao Zi with mushrooms and eggs..

I must say, we enjoyed all the food, it was incredibly delicious and tasty. The noodles were a bit oily for my preference, but I watched enough Chinese cooking videos to know that that's how they usually cook. My boyfriend loved the Algae Soup.

The other stuff we ordered, we ate at home, and again, everything was really delicious, even after sitting a while. We loooved the fried Milk, it was so good! I should have bought more than a portion.

All in all, I believe the prices are quite fair, not to expensive but neither very cheap.

In case you still are actually put off by the place, you can order the food and ask for take-out and in how much time it would be done. Then, you can just leave and come back in the time they told you. I saw quite a few people doing that while we waited...

Varietate mare de mâncare chinezească. Locul acesta fie îl îndrăgești, fie te ferești de el, nu prea e cale de mijloc.

Îmi place faptul că au o varietate mare de sortimente pe care le poți încerca și de asemenea faptul că în ciuda specificului "fast food" pe care-l transmite, acolo mâncarea este gătită pe loc.

Prețurile sunt okei față de alte localuri cu specific asiatic și mâncarea cu siguranță o vei aprecia ca împătimit al mâncării asiatice. De asemenea tot referitor la gust, mâncarea parcă are o anumită identitate, se simte autentică față de alte lanțuri mari "asiatice" unde parcă toată e trasă la imprimantă cu același gust specific de exxxtra usturoi.

Ca minusuri, cred că cel mai evident este locația în sine ce nu inspiră deloc încredere sincer. Aici proprietarii chiar ar trebui să investească într-o renovare ce ar spori încrederea clienților cu siguranță. Nu e doar o supoziție, am propus să comandăm la birou iar după ce am clarificat și toți au înteles unde e locul, am rămas singurul care mai avea poftă de "ciaina". Atunci ați pierdut clar vreo 200 lei, dacă te gândești cate comenzi de genul celei de 200 de lei le pierdeți astfel pe zi x 1 an, reiese clar că te-ar costa mai puțin renovarea decât pierzi.

Ca și local nu cred că e potrivit de mâncat acolo ci mai mult de take away. Aflat înăuntru ai senzația ca totul e lipicios și imbibat cu grăsime.

Un alt minus notabil sunt recipientele în care se livrează mâncarea (am concluzionat deasupra de ce acolo nu e chiar o idee bună de luat masa). Recipientele deși au inscripțonat pe ele simbolul pentru plastic food safe, la supele comandate au teribilul obicei să se deformeze.

Una din probleme este că daca iei cu livrare acasă cel mai probabil un sfert de supă poate ajunge în punguța de livrare, iar al doilea și poate cel mai important aspect este legat de potențialul risc de sănătate. E doar o supoziție, însă e firesc să te întrebi dacă plasticul acela e safe în condițiile în care la o supă de 80-90 de grade se sfrijește tot. Mi-ar plăcea ca ambalarea să fie făcută mai bine, în niște recipiente mai potrivite pentru mâncare caldă.

În ciuda comentariului cu iz negativ, nu e menit decât să fie constructiv. Eu cu siguranță voi mai comanda de aici deoarece e unul din singurele localuri cu specific asiatic din Cluj unde mâncarea chiar se simte cu un gust autentic și nu cu gust de rețetar standardizat ca...
