I recently visited Madrugada, a restaurant that was on my list for a while. Unfortunately, my experience was mixed, leaving me somewhat disappointed. While the food is decent—though not outstanding—the overall experience leaves much to be desired, especially considering the potential the place seems to have.
First, let’s talk about the waiting time. Depending on when you visit, be prepared for a considerable wait before being seated. It can be quite frustrating, especially when you're hungry and eager to dive into a meal. The restaurant seems to struggle with managing peak times.
Once seated, I found the service to be hit or miss. Some of the staff were professional, but a few stood out for the wrong reasons. They were often noisy, appearing more interested in chit-chatting among themselves—sometimes about customers—than providing attentive service. This lack of professionalism detracted from the dining experience, leaving me feeling less than valued as a customer.
As for the food, it was alright, but not exceptional. I could see why some people might enjoy it, but the inconsistency in quality is concerning. It seems like your meal could depend on your luck, with some dishes prepared better than others on different occasions. I sincerely hope the kitchen can maintain, or better yet, improve the consistency in their offerings over time.
Overall, Madrugada left me underwhelmed. I had higher expectations based on its reputation, but the uneven service and inconsistent food quality were disappointing. While the restaurant has potential, significant improvements are needed, especially in staff training and quality control, to make it a place...
Read moreDisappointed. I ordered Pui Copt and Home Made Fries and Papanasi Cremosi cu Vanilie si Dulceata. The chicken was raw (they offered another one), the alioli was pure fat, zero taste of garlic, zero taste of anything to be honest, just a pile of fat. The chicken, you get half of a roster (fat), fries (fat), pesto (fat), alioli (fat), a pretty balanced dish it was... Fries were ok ... Very hard side to do... The " SO FAMOUS PAPANASI" were nothing special. Cottage cheese dough, zero taste... you know the drill by now. The only thing with taste was the powdered sugar on top which was a good addition in combination with a heavy cream which tasted of a whip cream (sweet and fat), and a "strawberry/mint gem..." (sweet again). I like how the chefs here combine tastes, fat on more fat, and sweet on more sweet. Delicious! Absolutely NOTHING special. Even the worst papanasi I ate, I enjoyed more than these.
The waiter that I had also spilled sauce of my jacket when removing the plates from the table. I had to go tell him to bring me something to wipe it off...
The tables are super close together, the waiting line can be super long , and you are limited in time (1h for 2, 1:30h for 4), which I can understand.
