So my food was yummy, but the service was off-putting, slow, and disappointing?? After a good start with two waitresses (seated quickly, friendly beginning when I got the menu and made my order), after my food and drinks came and I finished my meal…they made zero eye contact or check-ins for 45+ minutes. I’m sure it would have been more, but I couldn’t keep waiting around.
Meanwhile, they visited literally every other table in the room (~6 I can recall), asking how people were doing, if they needed anything, giving people their checks, etc. The main waitress even did multiple rounds of this and spoke with patrons at tables right next to mine, about 2 feet from me.
I tried to make eye contact multiple times, but no dice. I was reading on my phone for a while and wondered if maybe she didn’t want to interrupt me…so I put my phone down. Still nothing. Literally not even looking at my table, which is actually impressive since that’s hard to do in a room that small?! And I was clearly done, no plates at my table or anything. I was hoping to get a dessert so kept waiting curiously!
The place began to empty, and even when there were only a few other people in the room, all wrapping their meals up, still nothing. I walked up to the register and asked if I could order one more thing and get the check and she just offered me the check? That last part was maybe just a language miscommunication or not hearing me say “can I get one more thing and then the check” but by then I was so tired of waiting and sleepy that I just let it go.
I would’ve chalked it up to maybe a cultural difference, but the other tables (some locals & some Europeans from other places) all got different service. Sooooooo no idea what was up, but after reading some other reviews it seems this isn’t entirely uncommon? Strange. Maybe it is dislike of US-ians (I’m from Puerto Rico but have an American accent when speaking English) which, ha, is frankly understandable since the U.S. is a mess and many people are entitled travelers, but 🤷🏻that’s the only idea I can come up with, outside of maybe some issue with me looking queer??? Because otherwise why?? Anyway. Food was nice, and if you don’t care for fast or guaranteed attentive service, might be totally fine for you. 🤷🏻 Otherwise, you may need to adjust your expectations or...
Read morePlease note that even though they both have the same name and share a location, the pizzeria and the restaurant are completely separate, meaning you can't order pizza downstairs and vice versa. We waited 20 minutes outside to be sited, only to find out that we couldn't order pizza downstairs and had to look for another table on the upper terrace. Once we finally sat down, what started like a lovely evening ended up as the most bizarre experience ever. The waitress was very nice and helpful at the beginning, we ordered our pizzas and two beers and then she helped me choose a white wine by the glass that I actually liked a lot. After almost 45 minutes of waiting for our pizzas (we didn't say anything about that, we just sat very patiently and waited) my beer was out and I wanted to order something else to drink. I called for the waitress who told me she'd be right back. She came back with our pizzas and as I tried to order another drink, she told me that she had other four tables to bring drinks to, and that I had to wait to order anything else. She wasn't rude or anything but obviously annoyed. I don't know why, I just wanted to order a drink. I thought to myself, in the time it took her to tell me that, she could have just written down my order. I could have waited for it to come, but she just didn't want to take the order. She told me she would come back in ten minutes or so, but she never did. She just ignored us the rest of the evening. I had to eat a very large and heavy pizza with nothing to wash it down with... The pizza was good, they didn't spare on the toppings, the crust was crisp and all in all it was very tasty (very big as well!) but I don't understand what happened to make our waitress get so annoyed. We payed our bill and left... she didn't even say good bye. Very weird... it kind of spoiled the rest of the...
Read moreI have traveled through 3 counties in the last 2 weeks and hands down this was the worst experience I have had in any country or town.
We came into Lake Bled on a tour and only had an hour to eat. We picked this place because it was close to our meet up place and looked so cozy and welcoming.
As we walked in the door, my sister offered a perky Hi and the young man behind the counter mimicked her hello in a rude and condescending way. We let it slide. I’m Vegetarian and asked if the booklets on the bar were menus so I could take a look, and the same young man looked at me dead pan and said No, they’re maps of the world. I honestly couldn’t figure out what his problem was. We should have walked out right then, but again we were on a limited time schedule and reluctantly let it slide.
A young woman escorted us to the adorable outside patio and we requested a table in the shade and were told we couldn’t have it because it was reserved for parties of 4 people. Fair enough. However…..after we were seated they proceeded to offer the shaded tables to 4 other couples (not parties of four) after we had already ordered.
Then, each of those four tables all received their food before we did.
The meal was fair but not great, but the clear preferential treatment offered to locals over tourists was not appropriate or deserved and soured our experience for the entire town.
I would not recommend this restaurant to tourists and wished we hadn’t used our hard earned money to support a place that treated...
