We arrived at an empty restaurant, but the prices on the menu were so high that we decided to just have a drink and go somewhere else instead. When our drinks arrived, we were asked to move to a different table because we weren’t eating, even though the restaurant terrace was completely empty — with around 60 seats available. The waiter was unfriendly, and the lavender lemonade I ordered tasted like plain squeezed lemon — I don’t think it ever came close to lavender.
Update after response: Dear Al Fresco Team,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the effort to maintain a professional tone — even if it feels more like PR than genuine reflection.
You're absolutely right: we chose not to dine with you. Just to clarify — that choice wasn’t based solely on prices, but on the atmosphere and reception we experienced from the very first moment.
Being asked to move from an entirely empty terrace simply because we ordered drinks didn’t exactly radiate hospitality. It felt more like: “If you’re not eating, you’re not really welcome.” And the waiter’s tone only reinforced that impression.
Of course, I understand that every restaurant has its own policies. But hospitality is not about rules — it’s about presence. And how a place treats guests who are not profitable often says more than how they treat those who are.
Sometimes, the most elegant gesture is simply allowing someone to enjoy a drink in peace. That alone could turn a visitor into a returning guest.
This experience, sadly, did not do that — but thank you for confirming that leaving was the right decision.
Wishing you self-awareness and sincerity — they go further than a well-written closing...
Read moreJust came across Al Fresco as we were passing by.....looked very inviting so decided to check it out.... Gorgeous seating area outside but we were not appropriately dressed so opted for inside. Stunning decor inside, clean, sharp interiors that resonated warmth and style. Excellent wine list, good selection of starters/mains/deserts, suitable for all palates! Started with swordfish carppacio to share, delicious and plenty of it..... Weiner Schnitzel was absolutely amazing, served with roasted rosemary potatoes. And a fresh berry sauce that complimented it perfectly. Also ordered the Zander, recommended by our lovely waiter, and was so happy we did. Served on a beautiful bed of barley in a fresh cherry tomato sauce with clams. Delectable and delicately flavoured. We had no room for desert but there was a decent selection available..... The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was inviting and the food sublime. A definite 10/10. No stone left unturned. Attention to detail in all that they did. A true gem of a place. So happy to have found you. Thankyou so much guys and a special mention to Chef on Wednesday night!...
Read moreWe ate here our last night in Bled. Up until this point all the restaurant food we’ve tried here has been very meh, until tonight when we got our socks knocked off us. We tried the chicken and asparagus risotto, rigatoni in tomato sauce with burrata (added chicken), Al Fresco salad, three desserts, and the chef was even kind enough to make some buttered noodles for our toddler. The risotto and al fresco salad were absolute stars. Very big portions that I found myself wishing I could fit more because I wanted to keep eating! The desserts we had were the tiramisu, the pistachio cheesecake, and the coconut. The tiramisu is very traditional and very tasty, the coconut was just okay, but the pistachio cheesecake was extraordinary. We were practically licking the plate at the end. Overall, completely satisfied, even with the $$ price tag, and I wish we’d found this place sooner so we could come again. The staff was extremely friendly and very tolerant of our 3 children, especially our toddler who wanted to walk around and high five everyone. Best...
