Vila Ana Generös Bled — Hotel in Bled

I'm surprised by the positive reviews, because our experience was very poor, and it's difficult to reconcile. First and foremost, the beds are like sleeping on concrete. Easily some of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever encountered in a hotel anywhere. Even if everything else was perfect, the first function of a hotel is to be a "good place to sleep" and this place failed miserably on that front. I slept terribly every night as a result of their awful beds.

They also seemed to give us the wrong room. They originally wanted us to move rooms mid-day as a result of their error and seemed to change their mind when I gave them a confused look. No clue if the room we were supposed to be in had a better bed. The room they gave us was larger, but we didn't really need the extra space, and our original room had a king bed and better view (the things we actually valued).

A/C was difficult to figure out. There was a well hidden remote for it and the unit was in the kitchen rather than the bedroom so the temperature never felt ideal.

Also room had a refrigerator, but it was not turned on, so I put some leftovers in there the first night that went bad before realizing that we had to manually turn on the cooling. Also a washing machine that didn't appear to work - not a huge deal, we didn't book a room with a washing machine, but if you had booked the room with a washing machine, probably a bigger deal.

Staff was not great. Seemed more interested in charging us for stuff than getting things right. If anything, I thought we should've gotten a significant discount for all the screw-ups on their end.

Not everything was bad: the bathroom was good. Looks like it was recently remodeled. Nice tile. Shower had great pressure. Toilet was great. There was even a bidet. Not sure why they didn't make the same investment in the beds as they did the bathrooms.

Overall, would highly recommend AGAINST this place. Not sure how it has so many good reviews, but it's literally one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in the past 5 years. Wish I just spent the extra money on a legit hotel closer to the lake. Only came here because the reviews were so great, but dishing out an extra 20-30 Euros per night for a better place...

We stayed for 5 days a family of 2 adults and 2 teenager. There are two buildings that one is only apartments.||We got our apartment as soon as we got there. The apartment is well organized and fully equipped with everything (lots of towels, including air-condition etc.). One of my decisions to book this place was that it got many equipment's including washing machine, full kitchen etc.||The location is also good as it is near supermarket, bakery, and travel agency. ||Bled lake is located only 5-10 minutes' walk and the walk is very easy.||There is a parking space so you don’t need to use your car and pay for parking as everything in Bled is in walking distance.||All the days we stayed we had breakfast which was located in the first floor of the other building that we stayed. The dining room was very beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely. There are nice variety of food to select from. The location of the apartment was excellent being on a quiet side road just off the main road into Bled so avoided the traffic noise. It’s perfectly situated for the large supermarket, bakery and bus to Lubjiana which stops just round the corner and is an easy stroll down to the lake and all the restaurants and shops.|The owner of the property is extremely friendly and helpful and kindly moved his car from his car port so that we could park our motorbike in the shade. He also advised us to use an alternative route when leaving Slovenia, as it was a national holiday and the roads were expected to be extremely busy. The apartment is in a beautiful old house, packed with old pictures and nic nacs and the bedroom has lovely old furniture in keeping with the house.
