Absolutely delicious rolled dumplings. We tried seven different flavors and they are all really good. Obviously since they are rolled dumplings, they are a bit compact, but not too much. Just perfect. From experience 1 dumpling is usually enough for one person. I would definitely recommend you try these dumplings. They have so many flavors, surely you will find at least one you would like.
The first time we ate them was in the mountain cabin called Kofce. And we liked them so much that we bought more in their restaurant in Ljubljana.
The restaurant is also very nice looking, but we took the dumpling as take-away.
They are a bit on the expensive side, but are worth it.
I would recommend you try the sweet ones over the savory ones.
We tried:
The classic: Cottage cheese dumplings, topped with browned in butter breadcrumbs
The Tarragon dumpling with cottage cheese, topped with browned in butter breadcrumbs
The buckwheat dumplings with walnut filling, topped with browned in butter breadcrumbs
The buckwheat dumplings with cottage cheese filling, topped with browned in butter breadcrumbs
Blueberry dumplings filled with blueberry cream, topped with hot blueberries
Raspberry dumplings filled with raspberry cream, topped with hot raspberries
Chocolate dumplings filled with chocolate cream, topped with a hot Choco-hazelnut sauce, sprinkled with crumbled hazelnuts
*When you get them for to go, the toppings come in little...
Read moreWe came here specifically for the dumplings we drove 30 minutes round trip out of our way just to have them.
We arrived long before the restaurant closed (about an hour in advance). When we first ordered we asked several questions about the dessert dumplings. We let our server know that we wanted to order dessert but we're still deciding on which one....
We ordered cabbage soup, goulash and a veggies dumpling. All of them had very little flavor (I would never order them again) it seems they don't use spices here. Very bland food. The gulash had the best flavor but had very little meat in it.
Then, when we went to order our dessert the biggest disappointment of all came. The server never came to collect a dessert order from us and when we flagged her down to order it we were informed that we could not get dessert anymore. This was the whole reason I choose this restraunt for their large variety of dessert dumplings.
Apparently, the kitchen had closed the dumpling warmer down at least 15 minutes early with no notice given to the customers. The restaurant was still full of people and many people probably wanted dessert like us.
It was terrible costumer service with pretty bad food. I definatly can't recommend it based on our experience. What a waste of time, money and opportunity to try...

Slovenian dumplings, also known as krofi or štruklji, are a traditional Slovenian dish that is popular and loved by many. Here are two types of Slovenian dumplings:
Krofi: Krofi are sweet, filled doughnuts that are typically round in shape. They are made from a sweet yeast dough that is deep-fried until golden and crispy. The most common filling is apricot jam, but other fillings like chocolate, vanilla cream, or fruit preserves can also be used. Krofi are often dusted with powdered sugar before serving.
Štruklji: Štruklji are rolled dumplings made from a thin pastry dough that is filled with various ingredients. The filling can be sweet or savory, depending on the recipe. Sweet štruklji are often filled with ingredients like walnuts, poppy seeds, or cottage cheese, and they are typically served with melted butter and powdered sugar. Savory štruklji can be filled with ingredients like smoked meat, vegetables, or cheese, and they are usually served as a side dish or main course.
Both krofi and štruklji are delicious and traditional Slovenian treats that can be enjoyed on special occasions or as a...
