Taverna Tatjana — Restaurant in Upravna Enota Ljubljana

Picked this restaurant as the reviews said they serve really good seafood pasta. The ambience and decor were very homey. It was a bit warm inside in the summer so I sat outside in the beautiful garden. Ordered their fish soup and seafood pasta. The seafood pasta was good but I suspect the fish in the fish soup was not fresh as it was a tad sour. I am pretty sure it was what made me ill that night.

My welcome to the restaurant was also disappointing. Went over just past 6pm for an early dinner and Was greeted by an unfriendly man at the door. Simply asked if their kitchen was ready to serve as the place was empty, albeit it was early for dinner, and he made a face and shrugged ! He was also very unfriendly when asked about the menu, portion sizes etc. The whole process from taking my order to leaving the restaurant was unpleasant. The place has potential but customer service really needs...

When we entered the restaurant everything seemed fine. It looked cozy. However, once we sat down, that changed. The waiter gave us menu's, sat down next to us on a bench and rudely asked us if we wanted meat or fish without letting us read the menu's, let alone think about what we wanted. The plates and cutlery were perfunctorily placed on our table. We asked for a carafe of water but the waiter obviously pretended to not know what this was, even though every single restaurant in Ljubljana provides this. Instead we were offered normal bottles of water ( which we later found out costed €5/bottle ). The fish was actually quite good. Conversely, the meat was dry. Now all this wasn't that bad, but then we saw the bill. We payed over €60 per person, which is patently not worth it. We felt swindled and won't be coming back...

My partner ordered pasta with vongoles and it was full of sand and grit; when we complained, the waitress went to the chef and came back saying that that's how it's supposed to be and that maybe WE were just not used to this type of shellfish - what sort of response is that?! We know very well how the dish should be, and it's NOT like this. He ate the vongole but could not continue crunching through the pasta. I ordered the squid ink risotto with cuttlefish which tasted overpoweringly of generic fish stock, cuttlefish had no texture or taste. The fish paté starter was fine but all in all, not a...
