Bootlegger The Zone Halaal — Restaurant in Gauteng

My partner and I went to Bootlegger in Rosebank on Saturday and had such a lovely time. We stopped in for a quick breakfast and everything was just perfect. I had a vanilla latte and he had a regular coffee, and both were delicious and just what we needed to start the day.

For breakfast, I ordered a chicken and mayonnaise sandwich while my partner went for the hummus and avocado sandwich topped with an egg. Both were super yummy and fresh, and you could tell a lot of care went into making them.

What really made our visit special was our waiter. It happened to be his birthday, and he was so jolly and full of energy. He served us with such joy and made the whole experience feel extra cheerful. We couldn’t stop smiling because his happiness was contagious, and it really added to the overall vibe of our breakfast.

I will not be going back to this restaurant again. We were shown to our table and waited 10 minutes for the menus. This after we asked for menus. We ordered a drink to be brought with the food. The food was served with no drink. Had to request 4 different waiters for the drink before they brought it to the table. After the meal I paid in cash. The waiter took the container with the bill and the money and came back 2 minutes later saying the money was short. I am 100 % sure i gave the correct amount of money. I did not want to create a scene for the extra R200 i paid. When the waiter took the container he looked inside and left our table with no questions only to come back saying the money is short. Unfortunately I did not get the waiters name . My children frequent that restaurant. I have told them not to go back...

The service from the waiters is always slow and disappointing. They are loud, eating front of House, addressing guests with food in their mouths, not noticing people standing behind them waiting for service because they are too busy having a jol with the barista, made me wait an hour and 45 minutes for a glass of water while on a zoom call that I couldn't step away from simply because they never bothered to check up on me. Until what seemed to be the owner showed up, then all of a sudden it's wiping tables and actually being present on the floor, walking with purpose as opposed to dragging feet and waiting for better days.
