The food was really sub standard. This should really have been something we had to pick up when the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night.
The melanzanne on the specials menu consisted of thinly sliced aubergine cooked in tomato paste with zero seasoning and topped with a thick chunk of tasteless mozzarella cheese. I posted a picture of this deconstructed dish. It was terrible.
The seasonal vegetables were absolutely horrific. Overcooked and bland. Any restaurant that neglects to season or even treat their vegetables with such disrespect has a serious problem in both the kitchen and front of house.
To the latter the staff clearly do jot pool tips and it looks like each man for themselves. The result is that waitrons totally ignore tables not in their stations and the poor person behind the service bar/barista looked positively bored and not interested at all.
My Chicken Limone was not a wine reduction zested with lemon juice as the menu described it. I ordered it with a side salad instead of chips, yet the waiter still brought the incorrect order to the table. Many problems here firstly given that the chef did not read the order correctly there was still an opportunity for the waiter to correct the problem before he put the order on the table. yet the waiter sis not even notice the order was incorrect.
Was there a restaurant manager on duty? Perhaps there was but he was not visible among the patrons enquiring about the food or service.

It was a pretty hot day so obviously the food had been plated on a cold plate and left standing for a long time. The knife supplied was broken and I would have asked for a replacement but by then the food would have been ice cold. Bar one cheese cake was good as was the coffee. But once I was finished my server had disappeared and no one else apparently was permitted to present the bill. I was kept waiting for over half an hour as were four other diners. Lunch time in a business district must have prompt service. I think this is a franchise restaurant and am sympathetic to the owner's possible stresses but a small chocolate and a personal apology would have made a big difference. A little more attention to detail would make this a very...
Read moreWhile taking pictures for my GOOGLE REVIEW I had the privilege to meet Thomas anb Michelle. Michelle has been the owner for 17 years and Thomas the manager has been in her employment for 17 years as well - see my pictures.
You can feel the passion and vibe of the dedicated staff, as as Michelle so elegantly states "It is the South African version of CHEERS".
Great spot for coffee and a meeting. The street ambiance off the Rosebank mall gives a energetic vibe yet relaxing experience.
Meals are apetizing and lovely Christmas...
