On the 15th of October 2023 my partner and I visited at Gibsons Gourmet Burgers & Ribs for supper. The food and drinks that we had ordered tasted amazing however the chain of events that followed thereafter ruined the entire experience.
Halfway through having drinks my partner bit on something hard, to our surprise upon further investigation she found two (2) hard pieces of sharp plastic in her drink (what we thought was glass). Due to this we flagged down the manager and showed him what we had found in the drink, to our surprise the manager knew exactly what we had found in the drink and how the plastic makes its way into the customers drinks as this has been an issue before. This was shocking to hear that management has not taken the necessary steps to ensure that this does not happen again however it looks like it is something that has just been acknowledged and overlooked.
The fact that the manager was aware of this regularly occurring and no changes have been made is negligence and could seriously injure paying customers whilst enjoying their meals or later on for having sharp bits of plastic circulating through their systems that could potentially lead to internal injuries. We were not offered a new drink and was expected to pay for the drink that was unsafe to consume, there should be no misunderstanding thinking that we wanted to have our bill fully paid for however replacing the drink or taking that one drink off the bill as an apology would have been appreciated. The lack of customer service and remorse from management is absolutely disgusting as it was brushed off as something rather insignificant. The manager continued the shift as per normal still not making the necessary changes to ensure that this does not happen again to the other paying customers that were seated in their place of business that evening.

Read moreHad the most horrible first and last experience at Gibson’s, I will never forget the disgusting food! I ordered the chicken wing basket. However, I was not prepared for what I was served, there were feathers all over the wings, most of them were covered by the basting sauce which at first were not visible up until I scraped the basting off with my finger which revealed the feathers, feathers were also clearly visible on the tips of the wings. The second issue was the fact that I had to point out that they only served 7 wings instead of the12 wings that was listed on the menu. The waiter brought another plate with 5 wings however I was not prepared to eat the wings since they were covered in feathers.
I requested that the plate of wings be returned to the kitchen. She advised that the Manager must be called.
The manager came to our table asking us “what seems to be the problem” of which I listed the “problems” mentioned above. He did not take any responsibility, instead he provided me with a list of reasons and excuses such as the fact that they were low on chicken wing stock and that it was the last batch of wings and that they were understaffed, he however did not once apologise or take responsibility. I responded by saying that a restaurant like theirs who charges “top buck” for their food is in the first place not supposed to allow such low-quality / disgusting food to leave its kitchen even if they had only one staff member left or if they served the very last chicken wing, this should not happen! I asked him whether he would have been happy if he had been served with such a disgusting plate of wings, I received his reply as “do you want to order something else”. Based on the manner the situation was handled and the fact that no responsibility was taken we decided to pay for our drinks and to go elsewhere.
Sorry Gibson’s but you won’t see us again!
