홍대 맛집 도마 홍대 | Korean bbq Doma Hongdae — Restaurant in Seoul

This has literally become our #1 favorite Korean BBQ place in the world. We came on a recommendation as it was a fair distance from the hotel, and I was slightly hesitant as there were so many closer options. But we sprung for the cab ride and walked to the restaurant as this is in kind of a shopping district.

You have to sign your name and number in the party on the whiteboard in front, but we only had to wait a couple of min as we were there early. They have the menu in English as well as a couple of other languages, but it doesn't really explain the cuts well so it's easier to pull up some pictures and point out what looked good to you.

There are a lot of recommendations for their soybean soup - and I'm adding to that list. We tried a bowl and it was fantastic! The sides were also incredible and my MIL couldn't get enough of the small crabs in red chili sauce. She probably would have had just that for dinner.

The coals are very hot as others have noted and the beef will cook up very quickly. There are several dipping options you can use; bean, some type of light sweet sauce, but the star of the show is their custom herb salt. Cook up the beef, sprinkle a little of the salt on it (better than dipping as that can get too much on it) and eat your little piece of Nirvana!

They have some type of seasoned beef (salt, pepper, and garlic) but we were enjoying the beef with salt so much we never tried that option. Note that the beef, while delicious, wasn't anything special so I have to give it to the seasoning. We liked it so much we ordered a bunch of bottles to take home and give out as gifts. I'm going to try some at home shortly so hope it lives up to the restaurant experience.

The price was extremely reasonable - about $50 per person for a 5 star meal. Overall we're definitely going to return the next time we're in Seoul. Highly...

The meat was excellent, of course it was not Michelin graded meat but it was still very good to our liking.

We ordered 6 different types of meat (the one in black highlights) including Waguu and ribrmeye and our most favorite one was the ribeye (rib eyes was thinner and waguu was thicker cut) ... The Saeng finger was also great and tasty but it can't beat the buttery flavor of ribeye and waguu.

There was a long wait at 9pm on a Friday night so plan accordingly.

The table has the button to press if u need wait or attention. They also changed your grilled mess often.

Oke thing I didn't like was that They should have told us we shouldn't put the marinated meat on the charcoal grill first (notice this is the charcoal grill, not the gas one). We didn't know so we put it on first and the meat was burn. It was fine until this one waitor came and made it like it's our fault to get burn meat. We didn't know better and if they knew more, they should have said something when bringing the meat out

Overall I'm glad we gave it a chance. We were so hungry by the time we got there so we tempted to eat the restaurants nearby. Good...

(singapore context) red ribbon restaurant of 2024? more like yellow ribbon (search singapore yellow ribbon for the correct context) cos they deserve to go to prison for giving such petite portion i thought i was in petite france.

even my grandmother at the wet market weigh 150g correctly maybe that's why she not working there. but really tho i nvr left the kbbq place feeling hungry for more food before and this is the first time. somemore in korea leh. wah this one legit disappointing. they did not cook or serve (gen z context)

for context we ordered 4 sets and he claims one set is 4 piece of beef (from the pic btw it's 150g per set so 600g in total). u think i who? some 3 yo that nvr eat beef before isit? underwhelming and underweight. even buffet places who charge wastage will tell u that's not 150g. pls up ur game if not someone will uproot ur shop.

u shld invest in a proper weighting scale and learn how to use one properly. if u need help i can help u with it...
