BornGa K-BBQ (Myeongdong Branch) — Restaurant in Seoul

I really like the branch in Bangkok, Thailand so came to this one in Myeongdong. My short experience there was horrible.

I went alone and there were only 6 seat table left, so the older waitress reluctantly pointed me to one of the tables. A minute after, there was a group of 6 people coming in and I willingly let them have my table as it has more space and I moved to another table instead. I looked at the menu and signaled the younger waitress to order. She nodded and walked away to work as a cashier. Then I signaled her again when she was done and again, she nodded and walked to clean up a table. There was another waiter behind her so I signaled him instead and he did the same thing, nodded and walked away to clean up that same table. In this meantime, the older waitress was just talking with the 6 people group giving them suggestions even though I was there first. It was so frustrating, so I decided to get up and leave.

If you only want a big group of customers, then put on a sign, so no one else who wants to eat alone has to face this kind of experience...

One of the younger waitress with bangs needs to work on her attitude. Ordering was fine but it seems like they are not helping customers to grill? Which is fine, so we grilled ourselves, but half way this particular waitress came over, she looked at our grill and let out a BIG SIGH infront of us without saying anything. Excuse me? What’s the issue now? Felt so disrespected by this gesture.

Half way of the meal, she offered to grill the pork belly and then just walked off. Never come back to continue grilling. Then what’s the point of helping us? Which is why the pork belly are burnt if you see the pictures.

Food was alright, service was really poor. Do not recommend anyone...

The waiters here are extremely rude and clearly have no idea how to work in the restaurant industry. Honestly, I’d recommend they find another job. We had barely been seated for two minutes when the waitress came over asking if we were ready to order. We said no, and she sighed loudly in frustration.

I expected a bit more attention and at least some explanation about how the Korean BBQ works — what side dishes come with the meat, how it’s served, etc. The whole experience was terrible.

They also have a policy where you get a free drink if you leave a 5-star review, which explains all the good ratings. In reality, this place doesn’t even deserve one star.
