Read moreThis resto would be the very definition of “hole-in-the-wall”. It’s another hidden find that you have to know about to find, and it has a grand total of 5 tables. The owner is really friendly though; when he saw us peek our heads in to try our luck at 10.00am (as we’d read that queues could be really long), he asked us to give him 2 minutes as a table would be vacating and we could come in. We ordered bibimbap (9,000W) and a soft tofu stew (9,000W). The steamed egg (12,000W) on menu also looked delicious, so we thought we would add that on as well. We were expecting to have a reasonably light breakfast, but the owner had other ideas - basically, he just wanted to make sure we were fed. Because the banchan kept coming. Plate after plate filled with generous portions of banchan. And they were delicious.
So too, were the bibimbap and the soft tofu stew. Apparently, soft tofu stew comes with a side of seaweed. The traditional way to eat soft tofu stew includes taking a spoonful of rice, dipping it into the stew for taste, and then wrapping it in the seaweed before popping it into your mouth. How did I never know of this?
We were half filled with regret when the steamed egg came in a giant stone pot, but by gosh this steamed egg was phenonmenal. Fluffy, creamy and so tasty. It’s been a long time since I’ve had steamed egg this good.
Also, it seems like this place is really popular with Japanese tourists. While we were there, every other customer was Japanese.
Anyway in summary, come here for great food at reasonable prices, warm and kind service, and leave with your hearts and stomachs full. Don’t forget to order the steamed...

It is not easy to find this place because it is in a nondescript alley. Look for TWO TWO chicken and turn left into the alley. There you find this hole in wall.
It offers 27 dishes 😅 I was quite skeptical bec I always believe in specialisation. Do one dish or two dishes very well. Well, I was wrong. Maybe we ordered all the right dishes.
7 dishes for banchan! And all excellent! No wonder it uses “Sikdang”. The sundubu here is excellent and so is the seafood pajeon. Yiu need to order based on # of pax ie. no such thing as 2pax sharing 1set or 3 pax sharing 2 sets. So you better come on an empty stomach bec the food is very substantial.
We were surrounded by Japanese tourists!
Note: ✔️Payment is cash only. ✔️If you need to use the toilet, they will lead you to a nearby building to use.
A hidden gem in Myeongdong. Nothing fancy …just simple and tasty traditional Korean fare.
I will come here again. Folks like Yeji Sikdang ..don’t have the means to do marketing and probably don’t know how to do social media. And competition in this area...
