I was in the Insadong arts district on a hot summer day in Seoul and needed something stat to cool me down! Bingsu was at the top of my list so I googled the area and all signs pointed to Gabae Langsom Insadong Cafe just steps away for me! The cafe itself might be missed if not looking for it, however you’ll see a large sidewalk sign and homey entrance - walk up the steps and it’s on the 2nd floor. Of course the first language is Korean, however the clerk also spoke English.
Prices would be considered on the higher end for Korea, but looking at the high reviews and me being thirsty I wasn’t about to compare. I chose perhaps the priciest Bingsu, hey it was “the new” item and she had me when she said it had strawberries, kiwis, and mandarin oranges. Yes!
The cafe was busy and filled with local Koreans which was a nice sign. Mostly older aunties until a group of Korean kids dropped in. At 16,500 won or just under $12 for dessert most there must think I have Lee Jae-yong’s wallet, but no I don’t own Samsung lol. I was just craving Bingsu and this place seemed legit! My order ready as I noticed how aesthetically pleasing it was, a large heaping, and more importantly after that first bite I knew I’d be dancing to the latest from...
Read moreThe coffee and food was okay. It was not very full.
The reason of why I gave only 2 stars for Service is because I went to this coffee to take a rest from walking so much and to charge my phone. The waitress told me that she can charge it, took my phone and connected it to the charger. As I wanted to connect my additional workphone to wifi, she told me that they have no wifi. Additionally, when I left and asked for my private phone back, and after the waitress returned it to me, I realised that she never charged my phone, as the power is still below 5%. This is kind of disrespectful towards my time, as the mainreason for me to enter the cafe is to charge my phone. She had a charger, she had electricity. There was no reason for this mistake, as the cafe was not busy (including me, a total of 3 tables out of 15+ were available). There were 3 waitresses. Also its not acceptable anymore to have no...
Read moreKafe Langsom in Seoul is a delightful discovery for anyone who appreciates both coffee and dessert. The tiramisu and chocolate cake were the highlights of my visit—both were awesome. The tiramisu was perfectly balanced in flavor and texture, while the chocolate cake was rich and satisfying.
The latte was another high point, well-crafted and flavorful, making it a great companion to the desserts. The café itself offers a comfortable ambiance, ideal for relaxing or catching up...
