Ox roast Rectum — Restaurant in Seoul

It's quite difficult to find the place. Look for Dadong Park (small) near intersection of Euljiro 3gil and Dadong gil. Look for place with a lot of smoke. The entrance is in the park. Write your name on the waiting list, it hanging near the entrance. When you turn comes, the owner will call you name.

The ox rectum serve here is the 4th section of the ox intestine, the small intestine after abomasum. There are only 3 items on the menu, ox rectum, octopus and noodle. You must order a minimiun order of 2 portion, either the ox rectum and/or octopus. The octopus is spicy and soft. They are very fresh. The rectum is chewy if you bbq likely, crispy if you bbq longer. The noodle is huge, good for two person. The food pair well with beer or soju or soju bomb. Chew slowly, take a few sip of soju, talk, laugh. You can see laughter around the table. Some even get drunk at 7pm. It is an after work favorite hangout. The bbq is very smoky because of the melting oil dropping onto the charcoal. When the smoke subside, the rectum is ready to eat. Each person can finish 1 portion of rectum easily. We were very full and wanted to experience only, but end up eating 2 portion of rectum, 1 portion of octopus and 2 noodle. Obviously, we did not finish the noodle. Need to wash yourself up after the meal to remove the smell. But all worth it. A true...

다동에서 여기만큼 야장을 즐기기에 좋은 곳이 또 있을까. 그래서인지 찾기 힘든 위치에 숨어있음에도 웨이팅이 어마어마하다. 실제로 을지로를 떠나기 전 한달간 세번이나 찾아갔는데 사람이 많아 한번 겨우 먹을 수 있었다.

메뉴는 막창과 주꾸미볶음, 잔치국수가 전부. 솔직하게 말하자면 맛은 무난한 편이고, 가격과 양, 원산지를 고려하면 개인적으로 조금 비싸게 느껴진다. 하지만 이 곳의 진가는 야장인만큼 한번도 아깝다는 생각이 든 적은 없다.

콧등 위로 살랑거리는 바람을 즐기면서 마시는 소주나 소맥은 꿀맛이다. 그렇게 적당한 안주에 술을 넉넉히 마시다가 뻥뚫린 하늘을 바라보면 무언가 가슴이 후련해지는 기분이 들곤 한다.

이제 곧 날씨가 더워지면 근처엔 얼씬도 못하겠지만, 시간이 흐르고, 가을즈음 을지로와 다동, 무교동이 그리워질 때 다시 방문해 가을 밤공기를...
