We wanted to experience some authentic Spanish cuisine and Paella was on the top of our wish list. After a little local research this place was recommended, and it didn’t disappoint. The Taxi we took near the hotel knew exactly where this place was and we were greeted on arrival and quickly seated.
Please note: this restaurant accepts cash only and there is a cash machine just outside the restaurant. (a twenty second walk)
The waiter was young but very helpful and efficient. We were served with drinks and awaited the Tapas. Everything came out fast and was clearly freshly prepared/cooked. It was very good. We then had a short wait for the Paella.
All of the Paella dishes are cooked to order and take a reasonable 40 minutes. It was well worth the wait! We ordered both the Seafood and the Chicken and Chorizo Paella. All I can say is wow! It was very tasty and everyone enjoyed our meal. We spent €120 for a family of four but that included two rounds of drinks and a good tip. We took loads of the Paella home and you could spend less and come away full. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Edit: well it’s our last night in Tenerife and we have returned to this place. I cannot speak highly enough of the food we received today. See...
Read moreGreat quality paella and nice tapas Food was delicious with generous portions. We had 2 tapas and a seafood paella between 3 and could not finish. The paella was particularly nice - tons of fresh seafood (crayfish, clams, mussels, octopus...) and not too salty. My mother was concerned about ordering this as she has had bad experiences elsewhere with bad shellfish, but at el tejado the seafood is very fresh so no need to worry!
Also enjoyed the albariño (white wine) by the glass while my dad had a reasonably priced pint of beer. All in our bill was below €45, which was good for the quality of food on offer. However at this place you are not getting beautiful surroundings as its right by a busy road, and this probably explains why prices are lower and quality has to be higher than on the beachfront!
Booked a table at this place Saturday morning via email for later that day and received almost instant confirmation. Service was also very good, with the waiter happy to help us decide between the many tempting...
Read moreA paella Haven I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Tejado that left me thoroughly impressed. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes, each one showcasing the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
One standout dish was the "paella o fideua (extra marisco)." The rice was cooked to perfection, creamy and bursting with flavor. The seafood was incredibly fresh and tender, elevating the dish to new heights. It's undoubtedly one of the best paellas I've ever tasted.
Another highlight was the "chrizo a la sidra." The chorizo was cooked in a light, slightly sour cider sauce that was a perfect complement to the rich sausage. It was a delightful and unique tapa that I couldn't get enough of.
The "pimiento de padrón" proved to be a popular choice among our table, a testament to its freshness and deliciousness.
Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic and flavorful tapas and paella. Every dish we tried was exceptional, showcasing the skill and passion...
