We visited Luuma on the front Friday evening. The first impressions of when we “reserved“ a table in the afternoon was that the place looked great. We arrived on time at 19.00 and were taken to a table by a surly guy that looked like he’d be more comfortable on Salford market (body warmer, sweatshirt, jeans, white trainers). We were seated in what felt like a walk way of a shopping precinct. The phrase an accident waiting to happen isn’t out of place with everyone rushing around. It didn’t take long before a platter of food hit the deck. Rib eye and tuna ordered. The sauces for the tuna steak arrived on a chipped and cracked platter. I asked if they would replace for another, which they did, only to replace with another platter that was cracked and chipped. Bottles of ketchup and mayo dumped on the table which I removed, only for five minutes later for two more bottles to replace them. Our food arrived Rib eye (medium rare) on a wooden platter and tuna steak. To be fair both looked good. Sadly The steak at best was cool, not even back of the hand warm and rare at the edges. I asked if the steak could be brought to temperature. Less than two minutes later the steak was back on a hot plate (no way it hit the grill again). I pointed out that this plate was also chipped, to which the server expressed “oh sh..t”, yes “oh sh..t”! The rib eye was like rubber. The fries were pasty and under cooked. By this time I’d surrendered to the situation and when asked if everything was okay I said I’d just keep it. The place was busy by 20.00 and customers were actually queuing to wait for a table. Meanwhile One of the waiters arrived for his shift by riding his electric scooter through the restaurant. I gave up on the steak and went to use the washroom before we left. A waiter came out of one of the cubicles, not stopping to wash his hands. This place is clearly a goldmine and the owners must be rubbing their unwashed hands together. Broken crockery, bumping in to each other, food hitting the deck and ultimately the food not being cooked as it deserves to be. In essence they were trying to turn the tables over far too fast. If I want fast food I’ll go Burger King and guarantee it’ll be better than this place. I’d Like to thank the cow for its part in last nights proceedings, but that is where any...
Read moreAfter a stroll, we decided to stop by Luma for dinner. We were advised by someone at a nearby shop to make a reservation, so I called ahead. The person who answered the phone was quite rude. I mentioned it was our honeymoon and that we wanted to come in for dinner. He simply said “8 o’clock” without even asking for my name. I asked if he needed my name, told him it was Joanna, and he just said “Ok Joanna” and hung up.
We arrived at Luma around 8 pm. When we asked where to wait, the host just pointed us to the line, even though we had a reservation. We ended up waiting 45 minutes. I found that ridiculous considering we had booked ahead.
When we were finally seated, we got a small table and everything started to go downhill. My husband ordered a Coke that tasted flat, like it was mixed with some syrup. I ordered chicken fajitas, and he had a burrito.
Let’s start with my dish. The chicken fajitas were nowhere near authentic. The meat and sauces were bland, and there were just two slices of pepper and a single slice of onion. It was edible but tasteless and really disappointing.
The burrito? No beans, no other fillings—just meat covered in melted yellow cheese. It was bitter and had no flavor. My husband gave up after a few bites and said he felt sick.
This was supposed to be our last evening of the trip, but it ended with my husband vomiting, experiencing severe stomach cramps, and diarrhea. I have never seen him so unwell. The next morning we had to visit a doctor and get medication from the pharmacy.
If you’re looking for a nice meal and a pleasant experience, this is definitely not the place. I’ve never left a negative review before, but this place doesn’t even deserve one star—apart from...
