Coming from the US I was told the food on Tenerife is one of the few disapointments of the island and Mario's exemplifies this disappointment 100%. I ordered a chicken enchilada and was served a flattened, tough piece of chicken with essentially salsa covering it. As this was explicitly outlined "Chicken enchilada - Mexican" on the menu I could only assume this would be a tortilla filled with chicken, rice, beans, etc... Obviously these assumptions were beyond wrong as the "meal" I received was inedible. My wife fared only slightly better with her curry dish. This was undoubtedly my worst meal on the island and made any all-inclusive hotel slop seem like a 5 star experience. My waiter did have the courtesy to ask me upon delivering the check if there was something wrong to which I simply replied "It just wasn't what I was expecting." There was no benefit to letting the guy know this wasn't an enchilada and was pure rubbish as earlier in the night when asking him about different meals he advised he didn't know about any of the food as today was his first day. Save yourself some money and get some good food at Harley's doen the street --- one of the best restaurants in town as far as I...
Read moreWhat can I say avoid this place like the plague on arrival and throughout the service was appalling I ordered cream of tomato soup and what was thrown on our table was basically watered down ragu sauce my son ordered garlic bread with cheese would of been ok but hidden underneath was a puddle of brown sauce who puts brown sauce on anything unless you ask for it! My wife ordered a steak and kidney pie for her main course and the meat inside could of been anything also the pastry was raw it looked like it had been in the microwave for 2 minutes. my son ordered a chicken skewer and it came in what we think was a mushroom sauce but still unsure what it was but there was no mention of a sauce on the menu. I ordered chicken curry the rice well over cooked frozen chips tasteless curry so as you can guess we left most of the mains when it came to the bill we were asked if everything was ok to which I replied no not really the waiter just ignored me and walked off with my without even the thought of an apology! In summary don’t waste your money in this restaurant there are much better...
Read moreI have been to Tenerife several times and always had wonderful experiences – until now. This was by far the biggest disappointment I have encountered on the island.
When I entered the restaurant, the staff member behind the counter did not greet me or make me feel welcome. I asked if I could sit somewhere, and all I received was a shrug. No hospitality at all.
I decided to sit down anyway and received the menu. When I wanted to order, I needed some help with the main dish, since the description included Spanish words that were difficult for me to pronounce. Instead of showing patience or kindness, the staff was extremely unfriendly. I speak both English and Spanish, yet I felt rejected and unwelcome.
In that moment, I stood up and left. If a restaurant does not want my business, I will not insist. Hospitality means respect, kindness, and a welcoming attitude – none of which I experienced here. People who are unhappy in their job should not work in a role that requires hosting and customer service. This was truly...
