Roma Restaurant - Pizzeria — Restaurant in Arona

Wouldn’t even give this 1 star! The guy who takes the order is the most rude, arrogant man I have come across. We booked a table, which was not ready for at least 15 mins when we got there. We were shown another table cramped up in a corner and covered with everyone’s pushchairs which we obviously declined. Our table was then ready, although they never set the table completely. It was ages before asked if we want drinks. As soon as the menu was brought, we were asked to take our order - we had not had the chance to look st the menu - the waiter decided he did not like this. I asked if we could order some focaccia whilst deciding and he said no. He said he would come back to us but never did. Despite attracting his attention to order on a few occasions he blatantly ignored us and went to every table in the room for drink and food orders - apart from ours!! I had a very hungry 7 year old with me and the situation was not amusing. We decided to get the drink bill, none of which were drank and leave. Nicely impressed! Prior of making a booking a day before because this place is always full, we arrived at the location where the host Patrizio seemed like he was already waiting for us smiling kindly. After presenting himself and making a short joke despite the place was packed he took his time attending us calmly and showed us to our booked table. He even recommended us the fresh Vitello Tonnato as a starter in case we were meaty guys. His appearance is quite impressive just because he looked differently than the other restaurant workers, clean and neat with a small guru appearance, food guru of course. It is quite a fortune to have someone like Patrizio having at the entrance of a restaurant because first impression always matters and Patrizio makes the best of it. Service was also great where Serena attended us and she was always on top of things even though the place was packed with people. The only downside is the coffee, they have a bad coffee which I clearly don't recommend btu it's a shame because everything else is perfect. I'll definitely come back. Just had a lovely meal at this restaurant. Have no complaints about the food what so ever other than when ordering we were told that chips came with our chicken carbonara and when we got the bill they were added on as a side, when i questioned it the waitress took them off the bill only to come back minutes later to tell us we had to pay for the chips as they didn’t come with the main course. This should be stated on the menu!

My biggest issue was with the staff, from the man taking bookings at the front of the restaurant to the man behind the bar and everyone in between!! On our arrival we didn’t have a booking and requested a table for 2, we were grunted at that there was a 30 min wait. No problem, we then came back and weren’t even shown to our table he stood at the front of the restaurant and pointed to it, i wouldn’t mind as it was not busy. The attitude of all the staff was completely wrong! It is such a pity as the food was very nice. The management/ owner would want to take this issue into consideration if they wish to be successful.
